Hurricanes Announce 2009 Cross Country Schedule

CORAL GABLES – The University of Miami cross country teams released their 2009 schedule today. Both the men’s and women’s teams will participate together in six regular season events followed by the ACC Championships to be held in Raleigh, N.C. on October 31.
For the second straight season, the Hurricanes will open their schedule hosting the Greentree Invitational on September 4. This year the event will be held at Larry and Penny Thompson Park in Miami. The women are scheduled to start at 5:30 p.m. with a 5k while the men will begin at 6:10 p.m. in a four-mile race.
UM will travel outside the state of Florida only once during the regular season, Oct. 2 in Cary, N.C. for the Great American Cross Country Festival.
After a bye-week, the squads will travel to Gainesville, Fla. for the Mountain Dew Invitational on Sept. 18.
The Hurricanes then have another bye then head out on their lone out-of-state meet, before coming back to the Disney Invitational on Oct. 10 in Orlando.
Stetson University hosts the Hatter Invitational on Oct. 16 in Deland, Fla. Miami wraps up the regular season with Gulf Coast Invitation on Oct. 24 in Naples, Fla.
After the ACC Championships, the NCAA Regional Championships will be held in Tuscaloosa, Ala. on Nov. 14. The cross country season wraps up with the NCAA National Championships in Terre Haute, Ind. on Nov. 23.
