Greensboro, N.C. – University of Miami volleyball student-athlete Lane Carico has been named to the 2008 All-ACC Academic Volleyball Team as announced Friday afternoon by ACC Commissioner John D. Swofford.

To be eligible for consideration, a student-athlete must have earned a 3.00 grade point average for the previous semester and maintained a 3.00 cumulative average during her academic career.

Carico, a 5-foot-11 freshman from Manhattan Beach, Calif., was selected as one of 30 student-athletes named to this year’s Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) yearly announcement. Carico is currently majoring in Business. This is the fourth post-season honor for Carico from the league office–already being named to the All-ACC Freshman Team, All-ACC Second Team and earning ACC Freshman of the Year accolades.

On the year for the Hurricanes, Carico averaged 3.59 digs per set while also pulling in a team-leading 16 double-doubles. She also led the squad in kills (369); service aces (35); and also topped the squad in points (433.0).

Florida State led the league with five selections to the 30-member squad, followed by Duke and Virginia with four honorees. Maryland, North Carolina and Virginia Tech each had three selections while Wake Forest, NC State and Georgia Tech received two honorees.
