Hurricanes Finish 10th at Palmetto Intercollegiate

The University of Miami Women’s Golf team finished 10th after wrapping up the final two rounds at the Palmetto Intercollegiate hosted by the College of Charleston Tuesday.
Miami shot 315 and 316 in the second and final rounds Tuesday to finish with a 943 in the 19-team field. Georgia State was seven strokes better than East Tennessee State to win the tournament.
Freshman Jennifer Hirano shot 80 in the second round before firing a four-over par 76 in the final round. She was 14-over par 230 for the tournament. After a tough first round on Monday, sophomore Maria Ronderos bounced back to post a three-over par 75 in round two before shooting 78 in the last round, which tied her for 37th in the field.
Sophomore Christina Hirano shot six-over par 78 and nine-over par 81 in the final two rounds tying for 47th. Freshman Begona Sarabia was the fourth Hurricane placing in the top 50. She posted rounds of 82 and 81 on the final day. Senior Anabelle Paulino only competed in the final round and posted an eight-over par 80.
The Palmetto Intercollegiate wrapped up the fall season for the Hurricanes. Miami will return to the course in the spring when the Hurricanes host the Qdoba Invitational at Don Shula’s Golf Club in Miami Lakes.
