Miami Set to Compete at 2007 NCAA Indoor Championships

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – Members of the University of Miami men’s and women’s track and field teams will head to Fayetteville, Ark. this weekend to compete at the 2007 NCAA Indoor Championships held at the University of Arkansas’ Randal Tyson Track Center.
The UM women’s team – ranked No. 14 nationally in the latest Trackwire rankings – will send four individuals to Arkansas led by 2007 ACC Indoor Field Most Valuable Performer, senior Brenda Faluade who will compete in both the triple jump and the long jump.
Faluade heads into the weekend ranked fourth individually in the Trackshark “Dandy Dozen” in the long jump and has the second-highest mark (6.45 meters) in the nation this season. She is also ranked third nationally in the triple jump.
Senior Amy Seward, ranked sixth in the long jump, will join Faluade in competition in the long jump.
Ranked seventh nationally, junior Khadija Talley will vie for a national title in the weight throw while senior Ginou Etienne competes in the 400 meters.
On the men’s side, junior Tim Harris, the 2007 ACC 800-meter Champion, heads to Randal Tyson Track Center as the nation’s third-ranked individual in the 800, an event he earned All-America honors in during last season’s indoor championships.
Also competing for the men’s team will be All-ACC selection and 11th-ranked junior Lance Leggett who will look for an impressive finish in the 60-meter hurdles.
