UM Closes Out Competition at 2007 ACC Indoor Championships

CLEMSON, S.C. –

Three combined individual first-place finishes highlighted the final day of competition at the 2007 ACC Indoor Championships Saturday for the Miami men’s and women’s track and field teams.<?xml:namespace prefix=”o” ns=”urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office”?>

 

On the women’s side, the Hurricanes finished second overall in the final point standings with 99 points during the three-day event while the UM men’s team placed 10th overall with 29 points.

 

Combined, UM crowed three individual ACC Champions Saturday led by sophomore Viktoria Andonova who won the women’s high jump with a UM record mark of 1.82 meters (5-11.50). In the women’s triple jump, senior Brenda Faluade took the conference title with a first-place mark of 13.39 meters and for the second-consecutive season, junior Tim Harris was named the men’s 800-meter champion after finishing first with a time of 1:51.17.

 

In the women’s 60-meter dash, freshman Ashley Dukes earned All-ACC honors with a second-place time of 7.45 seconds and senior teammate Ginou Etienne garnered All-ACC recognition with a second place finish in 400-meters. The UM women’s 4×400 relay team also took second place in Saturday’s finals.

 

Junior Lance Leggett earned his second-consecutive All-ACC indoor honors in Saturday’s men’s 60-meter hurdle finals, finishing with a time of 7.79 seconds, good for second place.
