Miami Goes Down To Villanova in Five Games

EAST LANSING, Mich. – The University of Miami women’s volleyball team lost to Villanova 3-2 Saturday afternoon at the Jenison Field House in the Spartan Invitational, giving the Wildcats their first win of the season.

In game one, Miami (2-3) defeated the Wildcats 30-28, led by freshman Genny Mayhew with 6 kills. The Hurricanes led by as much as five points, while Villanova (1-4) never gained the lead nor did they tie the game. The Wildcats battled back in game two taking an early lead, and Miami tied the game six times before going down two points with a score of 28-30.

The Hurricanes won game three (30-28) but could not take games four and five, and the Wildcats went on to take the match (31-29, 15-8).

Miami will continue action tonight against tournament host Michigan State at 7p.m.
