Charles Wins Triple Jump at Penn Relays.

Philadelphia, Pa. (hurricanesports.com) – The University of Miami women’s track and field completed day two of the Penn Relays. All-American Tabia Charles (Pickering, Ont.) jumped 13.94m, a NCAA qualifying mark, in the triple jump to take first place in the event. The mark is her second furthest jump in her illustrious career and bested the nearest competitor by .70 meters.
The sprint medley relay team of Dominique Darden (Harrisburg, Pa.), Charlette Greggs (Miami, Fla.), Ginou Etienne (Miami, Fla.) and Ena Leufroy (Atlanta, Ga.) finished second in the event. Their time of 3:46.34 broke the school record by nearly two seconds.
The 4×100 meter relay team of Amy Seward (Miami, Fla.), Greggs, Darden and India Ransom (Largo, Md.) finished fourth in the finals of that event. Their mark of 43.74 is the third fastest in school history and is a NCAA Regional qualifying mark.
Ransom also took second place in her heat of the 100 meter dash running an NCAA Regional qualifying time of 11.65 to qualify fourth overall.
Khadija Talley threw 53.18m in the discus to finish third in the event. The mark is her second best of the season and NCAA Regional qualifying time.
In late field event action on Thursday Brenda Faluade (Katy, TX) finished third in the long jump with an NCAA Regional qualifying mark of 6.26m. Akera Lathan also finished third in the shot put throwing 15.27m. Both marks are NCAA Regional Qualifiers.
