Construction Update #3

Miami began its fall practices amidst construction on Nov. 4. While the Hurricanes are trying to build a championship team, a stadium is being built around them.

  • Light poles that once lined the perimeter of the playing field lifted out of the ground and sawed for easier disposal
  • The foundation of both dugouts is now being laid, with drainage pipes installed
  • Old concrete in the dugouts and behind home plate has been crushed and removed. The are right behind the backstop, which will be home to three rows of premium seating, is starting to take shape.
  • Head Coach Jim Morris visited with reporters on Nov. 9 to discuss and explain some of the major renovations and additions to the stadium, as well as talk some shop about the ’06 `Canes.
  • Reinforcements to the current grandstand structure have been progressing and most of the rubble that cluttered the concession area has been removed.
