Construction Update #1
Oct. 20, 2005
The first phase of renovation to Mark Light Field began in the first week of October, with construction crews tearing out the old seating in the grand stand and removal of the current backstop for new seating. Cranes were brought in to assist with the dismantling of the light poles, which will be replaced with new lights and heavy machinery is being used to tear up the concourse area.
Construction is moving along at a rapid pace and the landscape of Mark Light Field seems to be changing on a daily basis. Even still, the team is still conducting individual workouts at the field. Although the team can throw and run at Mark Light Field right now, a full team workout can not be conducted due to construction.
The ‘Canes have moved their scheduled fall team workouts to nearby Columbus High School, beginning Nov. 4.
Phase I of the three-phase process calls for seating modifications, new dugouts, new stadium lighting and utility infrastructure and new restrooms.
