Women's Golf Opens Season At Wildcat Invitational

Lexington, Kentucky (hurricanesports.com) – The University of Miami women’s golf team will open its 2004-05 season at the UK Wildcat Fall Invitational, October 1-3 at the University Club of Kentucky in Lexington.
The 11 team field includes host Kentucky, Boston College, Eastern Kentucky, Florida Southern, Marshall, Memphis, Miami, Mississippi State, Murray State, Richmond and Western Carolina.
Play will begin Friday at 9 a.m. on the University Club’s Big Blue Course which is a par 71 and plays at approximately 7,000 yards.
The Hurricanes return four players from last season’s team that advanced to the NCAA East Regional Championship for the first time since 1998.
Leading the way for Miami is senior Tina Miller (Miami Archbishop Curley Notre Dame). Miller has four career victories to her credit and last summer qualified for the US Women’s Open.
Last season Miller won two tournaments, recorded six other top-10 finishes and led the team with a 75.7 stroke average. She was the Hurricanes’ top finisher in six of 11 tournaments.
Sophomore Tiffany Prats (Williston, Fla.) also returns after a stellar freshman season. Prats posted four top-10 finishes last season and ranked third on the team with a 77.8 stroke average.
