Clarke Leads Jamaica Into Olympic Final

Athens, Greece (hurricanesports.com) – Anchored by former University of Miami great Davian Clarke, the Jamaican 4×400-meter relay placed third in its semifinal heat with a time of 3:02.73 to automatically advance to Saturday’s final at the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens, Greece.

Clarke is competing in his third Olympic Games and is attempting to win his second Olympic medal. Clarke anchored the Jamaican 4×400-meter relay to the bronze medal at the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta.

Clarke, who attended Piper High School in Sunrise, Florida, was a six-time All-American and won two individual NCAA 400-meter titles while competing for UM from 1995-98. He currently ranks ninth in the World in 400-meters by the IAAF.

Earlier this season Clarke anchored the Jamaican 4×400-meter relay to the gold medal at the 2004 World Indoor Championships.
