CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The University of Miami rowing team’s Jenny Krawec and Rachel Clausing were honored by the Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association (CRCA) Friday as Krawec was named to the CRCA All-South Region First Team and Clausing was selected to the All-South Region Second Team.
Krawec, a native of Ontario, Canada, and Clausing, who hails from Lansing, Ill., garnered All-Region honors after leading the Hurricanes varsity eight boat to several accomplishments this season including a first-place finish at the Florida Intercollegiate Rowing Association Championships.
Krawec and Clausing also helped bring the Miami rowing program into the national spotlight in 2004 as the Hurricanes’ Varsity Eight crew finished the season receiving votes in the USRowing/CRCA Varsity Eight Top 20 poll.
“Jenny Krawec and Rachel Clausing are both well deserving of this award,” head coach Debra Morgan said. “They have the potential to become elite rowers and compete at the Olympic level.”
“This past season, they made huge contributions to the speed of the varsity eight while also performing extremely well in the classroom,” Morgan added.
All-Region teams were selected based on a number of criteria including, national ranking, boat performance and 2K erg score as voted on by the CRCA Division I Awards committee.
