Velazquez Earns All-America Honors in 3-Meter

East Meadow, N.Y. (hurricanesports.com) – University of Miami junior Miguel Velazquez (Mexico City, Mexico) earned All-America honors for the second time in as many days placing fourth in the 3-meter springboard (613.50) at the NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships being held at the Nassau County Aquatic Center in East Meadow, N.Y.

Velazquez, who finished fourth in the 3-meter springboard last season, earned All-America honors on Thursday placing eighth in the 1-meter springboard. He has earned All-America honors in all three diving events during his UM career. Velazquez earned All-America honors as a freshman in the 10-meter platform.

Freshman Derek Starks (Mission Viejo, Calif.) finished 18th in the 3-meter with a score of 502.40.

NCAA Diving competition concludes on Saturday with the 10-meter platform.
