Hurricanes Prepare for First Spring Match
March 12, 2004
CORAL GABLES, Fla. – Head volleyball coach Nicole Lantagne Welch will get a first look at what will be the 2005 edition of the University of Miami volleyball team this weekend, as the Hurricanes host their first spring scrimmage against Alabama Saturday at the Knight Sports Complex.
With four seniors returning, the Hurricanes head into the spring with what will be Lantagne Welch’s most experienced team as the head coach enters her fourth season at the helm of the Miami squad.
“Spring is a great time to get everyone out on the court,” Lantagne Welch said. “We are little banged up so this will be an excellent opportunity to get some of our younger players significant playing time.”
The Hurricanes and Crimson Tide will compete in two modified game formats throughout the day, playing two games to 30 and three games to 15. Miami and UA will square-off beginning at 9 a.m. and return for the second match at approximately 12:30 p.m.
