Women's Track Heads To Fast Times Qualifier

Coral Gables, Fla. (hurricanesports.com) – Coming off their second straight BIG EAST Indoor title, the 13th ranked University of Miami women’s track and field team heads to the Fast Times Qualifier meet this Saturday, March 6 in Gainesville, Fla.
Leading Miami is junior All-American Lauryn Williams (Rochester, PA) who ranks fourth in the nation in the 60-meter dash (7.21) and sixth in the 200-meters (23.24). At the BIG EAST Indoor Championships she racked up her third straight BIG EAST title in the 60-meters and her second 200-meter title in the last three years.
Freshman Tabia Charles (Pickering, Ontario) is the Canadian Junior National record holder in the triple jump, and currently ranks third nationally in the triple jump (13.53m) and 11th in the long jump (6.28m). Charles was named the Women’s Most Outstanding Field Performer at the BIG EAST Indoor Championships after capturing titles in both events.
Also competing Saturday will be sophomore All-American Dominique Darden (Harrisburg, PA), who won the BIG EAST Championship in the 60-meter hurdles (8.39) and is ranked 17th nationally in the 200-meter dash. Freshman Ginou Etienne (Miami Central), the BIG EAST 500-meter champion (1:11.48), is ranked 16th nationally in the 400-meter dash.
In the shot put, seniors Adrienne Moss (Miami Southridge) and Jennifer Penrose (Mesa, AZ) are both NCAA provisional qualifiers. Moss is ranked 33rd nationally (15.62m) and Penrose is ranked 39th (15.53m).
The Fast Times Qualifier is the final tune-up before the NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships, March 12-13, in Fayetteville, Ark.
