Athletic department hosts women’s sports clinic for 200 middle school girls.

On Saturday, February 21, 2004, the University of Miami Athletic department hosted a women’s sports clinic for 200 middle school girls. The event was held at the Knight Sports Complex on the UM campus.
The event started with opening ceremonies featuring Marge Wessel, President of the Sports Society, and the University of Miami All Girl Cheerleading squad. The children were separated into groups and had the opportunity to experience five different sports. The sports involved in the clinic were: basketball, cheerleading, rowing, soccer, and volleyball. The participants received lunch provided by the Big Cheese and a t-shirt commemorating the event, courtesy of the Sports Society.
The event concluded with the Hurricanes vs. Seton Hall women’s basketball game at the Convocation Center. All the participants attended the game and helped cheer the team onto victory.
