The University of Miami rowing team will host the First Annual Hurricane Invitational Regatta on Saturday, March 13 at the Ronald Shane Watersports Center on Indian Creek in Miami Beach, Fla. The regatta will mark the Hurricane’s season opener and is one of only two home events for Miami.

Along with the Hurricanes, six visiting schools will take part in the event including Barry University, Central Florida, Connecticut, Loyola Marymount, Nova Southeastern and West Virginia.

“We have trained hard through the winter season and are ready to start the season with a bang,” Head Coach Debra Morgan said. “We have an extremely strong group of athletes this year so we are eager to see what they can do.”

A boat dedication ceremony, along with dinner for friends and family of the Miami rowing team will be held on the eve of the Hurricane Invitational at the Shane Watersports Center on Friday, March 12.
