Robinson Takes BIG EAST Rookie of the Week Honors

CORAL GABLES, Fla. (hurricanesports.com) – The University of Miami volleyball team’s freshman setter Jill Robinson was named the BIG EAST Rookie of the Week on Monday for the week ending on Nov. 16.

The Merced, Calif. native was tabbed the Rookie of the Week for the second consecutive week and the fourth time overall this season, more than any other player in the BIG EAST.

Robinson turned in 44 assists in the Hurricanes 3-0 win over Virginia Tech on Saturday night to secure UM’s spot in the BIG EAST Championship. Robinson also added eight digs and four kills in the Hurricanes win.

She currently leads Miami with 9.97 assists per game on the year and in BIG EAST matches, she is second in the conference with 12.36 assists per game.

The Hurricanes will travel to South Bend, Ind. this weekend to play in the BIG EAST Championship. The No. 3 seed Hurricanes will take on No. 2 seed Notre Dame on Saturday, Nov. 22 at 3:30 p.m.
