Miami Throttles Columbia, 3-0

CORAL GABLES, Fla. (hurricanesports.com) – The University of Miami swept Columbia, 3-0 (30-10, 30-28, 30-14) Friday morning at the Orange and Green Challenge to record their tenth consecutive victory at the Knight Sports Complex.
The Hurricanes (7-2) held the Lions (0-1) to a season low .040 hitting percentage while hitting .324 to sweep Columbia in three games.
A number of UM players contributed to the victory, with four true freshmen seeing playing time against the Lions. Setter Jill Robinson turned in her second straight 40-assist performance in as many matches with 41. Robinson also recorded a double double with 11 digs. Freshman Sara Duncan had a match high 12 kills and five digs from her outside hitter position.
Miami also had a strong performance from sophomore Robin Lewullis who turned in eight kills and three block assist.
“This was a great opportunity to get a lot of players on the court and see what people can do,” Head Coach Nicole Lantagne Welch said. “Sara (Duncan) swung very well for us. Robin (Lewullis) came in and did a great job blocking and hitting. Elizabeth Tyson also did well, hitting the ball very efficiently.”
Columbia was led by Erin Saltman and Natalia Premovic, who both collected seven kills against he Hurricanes. Saltman also led Columbia with 10 digs.
The Hurricanes will return to face Northwestern on Friday night at 7 p.m. The match with the Wildcats will be broadcast live on WVUM 90.5 and can be heard live on the web through hurricanesports.com
