Andrews Wins Silver At World Championships

Paris, France – University of Miami senior Dan Andrews (Holiday, FL) captured the silver medal in the men’s amputee 200-meter final at the IAAF World Track and Field Championships in Paris, France.
Andrews, who runs with an artificial left leg, finished in a time of 23.60 seconds. Marlon Shirley of the United States won the gold medal in a time of 22.93.
Andrews is no stranger to international success. Last summer he solidified his status as one of the world’s top parathlete sprinters winning three gold medals and setting two World records at the IPC Athletics World Championships in Lille, France.
Andrews won gold medals in the 400-meters, 800-meters and 4×100-meter relay. His winning times in the 800-meters and 4×100-meter relay established new World records. In addition, Andrews set an American record in winning the 400-meters.
Andrews, the gold medal winner in the 800-meters at the 2000 Paralympic Games in Sydney, Australia, currently ranks No. 1 third in the world in the 400-meters and third in the world in the 200-meters.
