Greggs, Williams, Wade To Compete At USA Track Championships

Palo Alto, CA (hurricanesports.com) – University of Miami All-Americans Charlette Greggs (Miami Northwestern), Lauryn Williams (Rochester, PA) and Jamillah Wade (Philadelphia, PA) will be competing at the USA Track and Field Championships, June 19-22, in Palo Alto, CA.

Greggs will compete in the 400-meters, with Williams taking part in the 100-meters and Wade competing in the 400-meter hurdles. The top three finishers in each event will represent the United States at the 2003 World Track and Field Championships, August 22-31, in Paris, France.

Greggs, a freshman, is coming off an impressive performance at the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Sacramento, CA. The Miami native earned All-America honors in three events including the 400-meters, 4×100-meter relay and 4×400-meter relay. She is the only Hurricane in school-history to earn All-America honors in three events at the NCAA Championships. Greggs currently has the third fastest time in the United States and 10th fastest time in the world this season in the 400-meters (51.65).

Williams, a sophomore, is the 2002 World Junior Champion at 100-meters and finished third at the recently completed NCAA Outdoor Championships. She has posted the ninth fastest time in the United States, and the 11th fastest time in the world, this season (11.20).

Wade, who just concluded her senior season, is a three-time All-American as a member of the Hurricanes’ 4×400-meter relay and reached the semifinals of the 400-hurdles at the NCAA Championships. Wade’s season-best time of 57.62 seconds ranks 17th in the United States.
