Hurricane Women's Rowing Celebrates Bronze Medal at BIG EAST Challenge

CORAL GABLES, Fla. (www.hurricanesports.com) – – The University of Miami women’s rowing team finished sixth overall with 64 points in the BIG EAST Challenge Sunday, April 27 in at Lake Quinsigamond in Worcester, Mass.

Syracuse (112 points) took its third straight title, followed by Notre Dame (110), Rutgers (89), Boston College (77), and Georgetown (69). Syracuse coach Kris Sanford was named Coach of the Year for the second consecutive year.

The Hurricanes’ best finishes were a third-place finish in the novice eight with a time of 7:08.19 and a third-place finish in the novice four with a time of 9:02.59.

Miami finished sixth in the varsity eight (6:45.24), fourth in the second-varsity eight (7:01.18), and fifth in the second novice eight (7:47.19).

It was the second consecutive season that the Hurricanes finished in sixth place.
