– Candace Burney: Tampa, FL: Just wanted to let you all know you are number one in my heart and always will be. I have been an avid fan since I was seven years old and will die with canes in my blood. I even kicked my friend out of my house for talkin’ shit during the bowl game, because we all know you guys won that game. I wish you all the best. God Bless and love to you all! GO CANES #1!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Love your number one fan,Candace
Lisa Harlan: Kettering, OH: We were fortunate enough to attend the Fiesta Bowl, and I must say that your fans are some of the nicest people I have encountered at a football game. People were good natured and kind. After the game, there was not trash talk, and the same can be said for their conduct during the game.As an OSU alum and fan, I think I represent the thoughts of most fans that we hope Magahee makes a full recovery. No one wants to see such a talented player go down in a game. I know that everyone in our section was sick after he went out of the game, and the concern was genuine. The game was great on both sides, and Ken Dorsey handled himself with such class. Your university should not only be proud of the team, but of the fans. It made our bowl experience really great.Just thought you’d like to hear these thoughts from a Buckeye!
John Patton: Harrisburg, Pa: Great year guys, thanks for the memories, and the Hurricane Pride. I can’t believe the people (strangers) who have come up to me to complement the Hurricains after the championship game. You have, and are doing the right thing. Keep it up!! ps: crush everyone next year.
Michael Anderson: Dallas, GA: Thank you for the great season that we had. We know who the real champions are for 02-03. We will be back and all of you guy’s keep up the good work and I can’t wait till season to open once again to let the others feel the wrath of the Hurricanes. Thank you, Amicson GO CANES!!!!
David De Armas: Braunschweig, Germany: keep ur heads up, u are still the best team in the land, u got robbed but next season u will be back…..if its possible to get some information about the Oakley reflective football visor, some of ur players had this season, i play football here in Germany and wanted to buy one for my upcoming season, any info will be greatly appreciated…..from the #1 CANES fan in Germany, good luck to all the players in the all-star games and NFL Draft………
Roger Sanders: Grants, New Mexico: I am reel prowd of u bois, I graduwated from the unaversty of Miami in 1991, I lerned lot. How to wine after game, talk trash befor game, lose during game. Thatz all got to say. Go Canes
HG Webb: Boynton Beach, FL: We were robbed!!!A poll taken on the Monday night after the game, on ESPN, revealed the nation agreed that the University of Miami was robbed of their sixth national championship. The poll stated that 48% of voters agreed that the worst call of the weekend, which included the 49ers/Giants fiasco, thought that the pass interference call was BS. Just thought that would make you guys feel better. It’s the only thing that makes me feel better. Get well soon Willis.
Mark Santo Domingo: Orlando, Florida: Don’t worry you will be in the Sugar Bowl next year. Go Canes!!!!!
linda monroe: englewood, fl 34224: THE BEST TEAM IN THE NATION1111111111CLASSY,SOPHISTICATED,COOL AND ATHLETIC ABILITY WAY BEYOND YOUR YOUNG YEARS. THE MIGHTY HURRICANES PLAY SO WELL THAT THEY CAN COMPETE AGAINST THE PROS WE STAND BEHIND YOU AND SUPPORT YOU FANS FOREVER!!!!!!!!!!WE CAN’T BEGIN TO TELL YOU HOW MUCH PLEASURE YOU HAVE GIVEN US WATCHING YOU PLAY THE GAME SO WELL GO!!!!!!!CANES!!!!!
Don Pingaro: Plantation, FL: I just wanted to send a hearty thanks to each and everyone in the football program for a wonderful season.I am masters grad from the business school in ’92 and have held season tix since 1989.The trip to the Fiesta Bowl was magical. I can not remember another team going through such a gauntlet in the regular season. You gave us many thrills and proud moments. No team in recent memory has humbled both Florida and Tennessee in their home stadiums.I was at the Rose Bowl last year…The Fiesta this year and I’m looking forward to the Sugar Bowl in January 2004!!!Congrats to all seniors for a career second to none.To all remaining players…remember the bitterness from Tempe. Crisis builds character and I have faith you will overcome this momentary hiccup in the road.
Corey J Hotchkiss: Fort Stewart, GeorgiaCANES!Keep your heads up and stay focused in life. We’ll be back baby!!!!! CANES FOREVER!!!!!! Corey Hotchkiss,US Army,FT Stewart, GA,3rd Infantry Division
Robert Damian: Lincoln, Ne: Hi!Yes the season is over. To me although I was born here in Nebraska I don’t like NU. The Canes did a great job all season long. They are still #1 to me ever since going undefeated for so long.Congrats on another great season! From a lonely Canes fan from Nebraska. Go Canes!Robert D.
Michael D. Epstein: Brookline, Massachusetts: Dear Mighty Mighty Miami Hurricanes. What can I say? As far as I am concerned you won the Fiesta Bowl. I am a UM graduate from the ” Hurricane Andrew ” Class of 1996. That penalty call may have been the worst call in the history of college sports. # 31 Sharpe played Gamble clean on that throw. O well, you guys played awesome and should be proud. Good luck next year, looking forward to watching Brock Berlin and Frank Gore play when the Canes roll into Chestnut Hill to battle a fiesty Eagle squad.Miami rules. GO CANES!Mike D. Epstein
DEMETRIUS APOSTOLON: HUNTINGTON WEST VIRGINIA: WOW…I AM SO PROUD OF YOU GUYS, I HAVE BEEN A CANES FAN SINCE THE DAYS OF JIM KELLEY.IT IS A SHAME THAT A BAD CALL WOULD INTERRUPT THE PERFECT SEASON. AS I SAID THOUGH I AM PROUD. OVER THE LAST 3 YEARS CANES FOOTBALL IS UN TOUCHED IN IT’S REIGN IN COLLEGE FOOTBALL.I AM ALREADY GETTING READY IN MY HEART FOR NEXT YEAR. MAY GOD RICHLY BLESS YOU GUYS.FOR ALL WHO GO ON TO PLAY ON SUNDAYS MAY GOD PROTECT AND HELP YOU. FOR ALL THOSES WHO GO ON TO OTHER THINGS DO THOSES THINGS WITH THE PRIDE YOU WORE THE CANES UNIFORM. FOR ALL COMING BACK I AM BELIEVING FOR ANOTHER CHAMPIONSHIP. STAY HEALTHY. MUCH THANKS TO COACH COKER FOR HIS CHARACTER MAY JESUS CONTINUE TO BLESS YOU WITH HIMSELF. AGAIN THANKS FROM AN OLD FAN IN WVA. DEMETRIUS APOSTOLON
Terry Bloom: Jamestown, Ohio: Hello Hurricanes!!!! Congratulations for a GREAT SEASON !!! As I am a OHIO STATE BUCKEYE fan I still can’t believe what I read about “THE END ZONE CALL.”There were some bad calls the other way too. If you remember right the Hurricanes were a 12.5 point favorite. One call doesn’t equal to 12.5 points. All the stats pointed to Miami as the favorite and some players get to believe what’s on paper and forget to come play on GAME DAY!!!! Give the BUC’s credit for play’n there heart out!! This should be a lesson learned the hard way. “Don’t take anyone for granted.” This was a game that you wished that no one had to be the loser.I wish Willis a very speedy recovery and I’m sure we’ll see you in the hunt next year. Take care and God Bless all of you.
Rheuben Parramore: Charlotte, NC: We’ll be Back!!!! With Out Any Doubt!!!We Got Robbed any way!!!!!Big Unlce Rheuben # 23 James C. Lewis!!
: Ryan Flores: The Woodlands, Texas: Hey Canes sup man yall got jipped on that game there was no way that was pass interfierence im sure some of the buckeyes know that too. Anyways I was going to go to ur school to play football cause I’d be the best damn reciever yall would ever have, next to Andre Johnson but then I had a head injury in a practice which causes me not to be able to play football for the rest of my life which is a real heartbreaker for me. Sometimes I dream about being on the Miami Hurricanes and getting to play Wide Reciever and catch passes from Ken Dorsey and block for Willis Mcgehee. I just wish i got to go to a game or better yet when I’m older get to play on them. Anyways I know yall will win the title next year those Bucks are goin down.
Dave Albury: Deland, Fl: Thanks for a great streak and from 3 guys from Deland, Fl, we are season ticket guys and have enjoyed being able to again enjoy supporting the GREAT TRADITION OF MIAMI HURRICANE FOOTBALL. We look forward to beginning another streak and as always the Miami Huricanes will again set the tone for standards and will prevail and always be #1 in our hearts and we look forward to next season and again playing for the NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP. SEE YA NEXT SEASON!!!
Josh Clifton: Union Point, GA: Dear Canes, Sorry about the loss but you are still the best because of the bogus call. Willis, I hope that you have a speedy recovery and that you show up the Pros. I’m hoping to get a chance to follow in your footsteps. I’m a running back for the high school. I plan to start as a sophmore but I still have a ways to go before that can happen. I have been getting letters from Miami about coming down there but I’m not sure that have the size that a back needs to play for a college team. I was hoping that you could help me out about your school. Could you give a pointers about college? Thanks, Josh Clifton
Danny Jones : Locust Grove, Georgia: Congratulations guys !!!! Another great year !!!! Yeah, you were robbed by a TERRIBLE call, but those things happen. You guys are still champions in every sense of the word !!!! Be proud, hold your heads high, work hard in the off-season and we’ll be back next year. You guys proved once again that … “IT’S GREAT TO BE A MIAMI HURRICANE !!!!”GO CANES !!!!
David Kern, Taylor Mill, Kentucky: Congratulations on a great season. Take some time in your lives to stop and reflect on how special you made so many of us feel and how well you represented the U of M. Thank you for the great memories. TO KEN DORSEY: You have done MUCH for a storied program. I practice law in Ohio. Ohio State fans feel that you single handedly kept Miami in the game. You are a winner.
Marty Blitstein: Vail, Colorado: Dynasties stand the test of time and the Canes are a dynasty and will stand the test of time. This is the year to once and for all show what it is to be a cane.Go Canes
Justin Thomas: Enfield, Ct.: Dear Ken Dorsey,Willis McGahee:I’am very impressed about your game vs. Ohio State. I love hurricane football.I play youth football and have learned a lot about the game by watching your team play. In my season our team came in first place. I had over 1,000 yards rushing, 25 touchdowns, and 1 passing touchdown. I hope to play for the hurricanes some day and play for the national championship as you did. I hope to hear back from you good luck in the off season
Will Blanco (age 13) Gilbert, AZ 85297: Great game dudes! They need to get rid of late penalty called shots and rely instead on instant replay when questionable plays occur. My mom and dad are both cane grads (1984). Canes are number one!
Tish and Juan Ginart: Coral Springs, Fla: What a season! What a decade! You young men are amazing! We have been to many games and have cheered these last few years and have cried at the FSU game in Tallahasse in 1997. But we have enjoyed every minute. This program is incredible and the examples you young men have sent to all have been a credit to the coaches, parents and the school. Your chins should stay up and your heads held high. Again, you guys are amazing. See you next season!!!
Terry Moore, Pensacola, FL: I realize the Fiesta Bowl was a heartbreaker, but you guys had a fantastic season. Up here there are very few Canes, and I am very proud to be one. You are tremendous representatives of a great school. All the best to the Seniors, and wait ’til next year! I am already making reservations for the Sugar Bowl.
Nancy Miller: Akron, Ohio: Dear Canes,
I live in Akron, Ohio but having grown up three blocks from the U. of Miami, I love my Canes and am not a Buckeye fan. It’s heartbreaking that you lost. I wish the first half had ended three minutes earlier. Then there never would have been a question as to the official’s call. But I felt for sure you would come back in the second half. You did against FSU and Rutgers and you almost pulled this one out.I am still furious that one Big 12 official who had already been involved in controversy twice was allowed on the field. His call of a phantom interference charge cost you the game and he should be fired and never allowed on a football field again. Why on earth they didn’t choose the top officials in the country for this game is beyond me.This is the second game this season that the Buckeyes stole. The first was against Illinois. Now we all know where the Irish luck went.Willis, please get well soon. Just pay attention to rehab and you’ll be back – hopefully by mid season I am so proud of you and Ken being among the five Heisman choices.
Dean Springer: Palm Springs, California: Hey Guys, First of all, I just wanted to say hey to all of you…I am a loyal fan out here in Cali, and i’m looking forward to the National Championship game in New Orleans, and I know that the University of Miami will be there, making their comeback. With Brock Berlin at QB, and Frank Gore at the starting TB position, I can’t wait. As long as you guys stick together, and play like the champions that you deserve to be, you will be fine. Looking forward to watching you play, Dean Springer
Ryan Hurlburt: Clearwater, FL: Hey. Whats done is done and nothing can help it. No matter what others say, you are still #1. OSU can’t match the talent that the Hurricanes team has.I have no doubt that you guys will be back for the national championship game next year. You guys are all bad asses in my book. Just remember, without the bitterness, the sweet is not as sweet. I cant wait to cheer you guys on next season. I’m a Hurricanes fan for life!. GO CANES!!!!
Daniel Rivera: Oldsmar, FL: Men,We’re proud of you. You busted your tails off. I know that this loss is disappointing but remember, in 2003, we’ll learn from this loss and be back better than ever. Great season men and GO CANES!!!
Wayne Carter: Pensacola, FL: I’ve been a BIG Miami Football fan since my wife (who is a sports fanatic) got me to watch a Miami football game the year they played Penn State for the National Championship. Before that I could have cared less about watching any sports much less a college sports team. From watching that first Maimi game, I knew Maimi’s players were a special caliber of indiviuals as exemplified Friday night Jan 3rd. I thought this “GREAT” Football Team should know that everywhere I go I’m confronted by shocked friends & strangers who are alumni from other Universities (I.E Georgia, Alabama, Florida State,Florida etc…),who tell me Miami won only to have it taken away!
wade mullins : seffner,fl.: Thanks for a great year. I love you guys and am so proud of your hardwork and accomplishments. I was so proud of how you fought on Friday night. You went down with dignity. Most Gators would whine all summer about the interference call. Not a true Cane. we know our guys will be right back in the hunt not just next year, but every year. That is something those stinking Gator LOSERS can not truthfully say nor will they ever understand, “cause it’s a Canes thing!
Ron Smith: Louisville TN: THANKS for a great run. You guy’s have made us all proud. You have set the standard for college football by your actions and sportsmanship.I know you will make life miserable for the opponents next season. To the Senior’s: You led a great team. We will always by indebted to you.My grandson can’t wait to grow up and be a Cane!!GO CANES!!!!
Nell Hall: West Palm Beach, Fl: We were at the game and have never been so proud to be a Cane!! Everyone knows that the Canes are #l but we were so impressed with the classy way that you guys handled yourselves. Thanks for the great season and all of you should keep your heads high…..you are all winners! More proud to be a cane than ever!!!!
rob sanatore: massillon, ohio: canes, thanks for a great season! im confident that well be back on top in 03! remember how you felt after the osu game! im sure we dont want to feel like that again. canes forever!!!!!!
Dee G.: Atlanta, Ga.: I was very hurt by the loss as well. But I know things happen for a reason and that God reigns and rules in the affairs of men. It wasn’t a true loss because some the Ohio players as well as some of the officials played dirty. But, you win some and you lose some. God is in control.I pray to see Miami back next year and know that this will be the case if all the players who can come back do. I thing it would be best for the team and for them.Being a UM Alum and a Georgia resident, I would love to see a Miami v. Georgia Game next year in Sugar Bowl with Miami beating the lights out of Georgia of course. It’s so unfair that UM recieves such bias because it isn’t a tenured University. But, the football team has given us great publicity over the past two years. Please keep up your class act and don’t return to the days of “showboating” and a lack of discipline. Stay with the principles that Butch Davis and Larry Koker have instilled in the team.Take the best from the loss and move forward. Keep God first and seek to be a team that represents Christ as much as possible. Those of you who do pray, do so before each game. Pray that God will be glorified in all tht you do on the field.Enjoy the summer but don’t get too laxed because the target is still on your back. Ohio wants a repeat and Georgia wants a national title. But don’t worry about that. Just keep your eyes on your goals.Don’t feel bad seniors. You did an excellent job. The whole country knows that.Remember that God said he would prepare a table for us in the PRESENCE OF OUR ENEMIES!!!!. Psalm 27
Jarred Fitzkee : Lancaster, Pennsylvania: I just want to let you know that I am proud of you all, you all have the heart of champions! I know you will be back and ready to bring the title back to where it belongs in 2003!! GO CANES!!!!!!! Kick some butt in 2003!!From a huge Canes fan in PA, Jarred
Gary W. Newcomb: Archdale,NC: I first want to say, You guys are the Champs. The game really was over in the first overtime.I want to say thanks to all the players for there hard work this season. I know the canes will be back on top next year. You can’t keep the best football team down. GO CANES P.S. The real score Miami 31- Ohio State 24
Major Daniel E. O’Grady: Fort Leavenworth, Kansas: Absolutely Outstanding! Those are the first words that come to mind when I think of your accomplishments over the past few years. As a 1990 UM graduate, I can honestly say that I am more proud today to be a Hurricane than I was when I was in school. Not only have you re-established the program as the standard by which all others are measured on the field, but your performance off the field is to be commended as well. Keep up the hard work and discipline on and off the field and don’t ever lose the “Us Against the World” mentality. GO ‘CANES!!!
troy weis: columbus, ohio: Go Canes!!!
Bob Young: Dallas, Tx: You guys had a great season. It may not have ended the way people would have liked but that doesn’t mean we’re not proud of you guys. This team has more heart than any other team in the country. The Canes will rise back up next year. Wouldn’t a rematch be great.
John Beck: Jacksonville Florida: I have been a fan of the Canes for twenty years through good and bad keep your heads up I think you will be back as National Champs next season. The Hurricanes had a remarkable season and like all thier fans know they will be back as strong as ever. Ya’ll played a very good game in Tempe. I think the team got ripped off on the pass interference call. GO CANES!!!
Christopher Scott: Overland Park: Hi to all of the Football Players,My name is christopher Scott and I just want to say that you all played one heck of a game this past staurday you all might not even read my letter but if this e-mail reaches any one please tell #2 “that is the running back I do not want to spell his name wrong” everything will be alright and I will keep him in my prayers oh by the way I am from Kansas city that is far from Miami oh I really thought you all were going to play Oklahoma that is my other team I dont know how sorry ohio State made it one more thing on the last play of the game in over time it was fourth down and they called you all for pass interference that is not true Miami you got robbed thats all and guess what I might be attending your school and playing football with you guys I dont care if I never play a down just as long as I get to suit up with the best tell everyone from the scout team to the starters Chris said Hi goodluck with this upcoming semester God bless
Casey Kirk: Columbus, OH: Not everyone up north is down with the Buckeyes. Much love and respect to da Canes! Keep your head, and let’s not forget what this feels like. As a die hard Canes fan, lets vow to comeback harder and stronger in 03. Rest up, focus and lets get back to off season workouts so that we can do what we do best…win championships. Thanks Ken for the memories and Willis get well soon and many prayers for a speedy and prosperous recovery. Represent!
Sue Miller, Islamorada, FL: WHAT A TEAM! You all make us so proud to be Cane fans! Can’t wait for you to re-load and go at ’em again next year and get that new string started. You should be proud to be a part of an unbelievable program. There isn’t a team in America who will ever again do what you did —- unless it is the future Canes that follow in your footsteps.
Steve Denney : Akron Oh: Dear Canes, great game and sorry about the loss in OT, however in reality it should have never gone OT in the first place! The replay clearly shows Gamble catching the ball on our last drive before punting. You showed fairly decent class except for some of you who were dancing on the O in Sun Devil. Good luck next year and hope to see you in New Orleans
steve moskowitz: decatur, ga.: You guys are the best. Its to bad yougot screwed by a incompentent official.I have been a cane fan for 22 yearsand i have never seen a team show moreclass than you did.Next year you willhave more depth at running back and mygut feeling is you will be better nextyear. I just wanted to thank you guysfor an incredable year and we all loveyou guys and coach coker. good luckin in all of your lives and for thosecoming back next year, come out withcomplete focus and kick ass!!!!!!!!!!!!!thank you for a great year. YOU ARENUMBER 1 TO THE PEOPLE THAT REALLYKNOW.
Matt E. Bales Jr., MBA 97′, JD 00′: New York, New York: Congratulations on another exceptional year in University of Miami football. I really enjoyed watching the Canes play during this past season. The 2001 and 2002 UM football teams symbolize what Miami football is all about; playing excellent football with class. I have followed most of the UM football teams in the past, and there is something special and unique about the 2001 and 2002 teams that we probably will not encounter for some time. The Canes should be extremly proud of their accomplishments during the past few years and in my mind are the National Champions of the 2002 football season regardless of the final numbers in the Fiesta Bowl.Ken, you will be missed greatly. Best of luck in your future endeavors. Willis, I hope you have a speedy recovery and look forward to seeing you play in the near future.I am proud to be an alumus of UM and of the continued excellence in its football program.Go Canes!!!
Ryan Wilcox: Florida: grseason guys! keep your heads up and next year you’ll be in the title game again! thank you seniors for the memories! GO CANES!! Redemption 2003

Monty Seals: Brunswick, Georgia: Hurricanes,You are champs. Keep your heads up. I know that you are dissapointed, as we all are. But, I was frankly more upset with Willis being injured than I was over the loss. I know you will come back and continue to make all of us proud.I have been a hurricane fan since 1978 and will never change.GO Canes!!!
Patrick Sharpe: Columbia, SC: Hurricanes yall got cheated out of the game. I know the reason we lost was because we cant win at the Fiesta Bowl. I hope the bright side out of this lose is that it will make us hungry for next season. All my friends have been like “haha Pat how about the Canes” and I have to just tell them to shut up because the Buckeyes got lucky. Im coming to Miami at the end of this month so im looking foward to that. Better luck next year. Tell my cousin Glen to shake it off it wasnt his fault the refs are retarded. Work hard over the off season.YOur Biggest fan in SC,Pat Sharpe
Darren Stumberger: New York, NY: You guys are the best! True Champions, never mind that fraudulent ref from the Big 10. You guys won the ballgame. Keep that Miami swagger and confidence and work hard this offseason. Remember the pain, and take it out your opponents next year! Thanks for the great run! Fan since 83′
Lee Pinkston: Watervalley Ms: It was a bad call and everybody knows it. Go canes in 2003
Lynn Hill: Orlando FL: Congrats on having a terriffic season.I must commend everyone as a team, a coaching staff, and as individuals. Your lack of comment, complaint, finger-pointing or blame for your loss to Ohio State speaks volumes of your integrity and charachter.I am a Buckeye born and raised, living in Florida. Having heard plenty about the ‘Miami Bad Boys’, I was sure that the loss would be blamed on something out of your control. Instead, you have shown to the country not only how to win, but how to get beat. There is a difference between losing and getting beat. UofM got beat Jan 3. You didn’t lose. Not the game, not respect, not appreciation.I will watch your program with a fresh point of view from now on.Again, congratulations on a terriffic season.
max l. wilson: omaha,ne.: you’re still the champs in my mind,a wonderful season a wonderful team, blown away by a stupid official on the worst call i’ve seen in my 65 years of following sports,he should be banned from officiating for life.See you next year.Max L. Wilson
Orain Pitt : north lauderdale fl: Guys words can’t express how much you guys mean to me,you guys are incredible you all are good sportsman and what you have done this season will reflect on every other generation. We are winners and with that i will walk with my head high 2004 National Title will be ours best believe that.God bless the whole team coaches and staff and we will be back.#51,26,2,11,17,66,75,95,91,1,7,99,97,98,3,36,34,22,23,& 31 you guys are a semi pro-team keep up the good work ethic My team for life
George Gagne: Florence, SC: As an out of state season ticket holder and a fan for the past 20+ years, I take great pride in attending both home and away games. The players make all of the fan participation worth while. I can’t thank you players and coaches for the great excitement you provide on game day and how much dedication you put into making a winning program. I’m already looking forward to the 2003 season opener against La. Tech. Thanks again for a thrilling Fiesta Bowl.
