– Gayle Bacon: Atlanta, Georgia: I wanted to let the BEST team in the whole wide world just how PROUD I am of them. You have accomplished so much and did so with dignity and class. You have raised the standard of excellence in college football. You are a group of talented and good hearted individuals. Cream always rises to the top. Good things will always follow you.

Kelvin Myers: Houston Texas: Man you guys had a hell of a run the past 3 seasons and have nothing to hang your head for. As a true Cane fan since birth I know you cant blame the lost on a bad call but every real football fan knows that was a bad call. OSU is a good team but had that Championship given to them. Im disappointed that Willis and Andre are leavin for the NFL but I know with the young talented WR’s still left will feel that void. And i know Frank Gore will do his thang… dont think that i dont know what Gore and Brock be doing to the 1st team Defense in practise so i know we will be ready next season playing for the sears trophy again..thanks for the season and lets get ready 4 another streak….most national championships cause there are plenty more to come….keep up the hard work

frank skrobot: buford ga: Whats up guys, I just wanted to say thanks for giving me something to beleive in. You guys are the best football team in the ncaa and dont forget it. The buckeyes were given your title by a referee. SOI say to you guys this: NEXT SEASON A HURRICANE BLOWS THROUGH THE NCAA. I hopr to be geting season tickets and i will drive down to every home game. Guys practice hard and come back stronger than ever next year. GO CANES!

Miami Alumni: Detroit, MI: I just want to congratulate you guys on a wonderful season. I live in Michigan so you can imagine what I have been through as a Miami fan all season. It was a wonderful game and even though we lost we will be back. This game will be talked about for a long time and you guys have a lot to be proud of. Thanks for the great memories. Keep your head up. Coach Coker you have a very talented group of young men you are doing a good job and I hope you have a long and successful career at Miami.

Joey: Washington D.C.: Go Canes. Im 22 yrs old, originally from West Virginia, but now in the military, Ive been a Miami Hurricanes fan since 1988, I remember it like it was yesterday, i turned on the TV and saw Miami playing Notre Dame, thats when i knew Miami was the team for me. I have been through good times and bad times, I have no doubt Miami will be on top again next year. With Brock Berlin playing and we also have alot of young players. I just saw on Sportscenter that Macgahe is leaving but not to worry we have Frank Gore coming back. Miami has too many weapons…hopefully Winslow Jr. is staying. Ok, C-A-N-E-S Canes!! Feel free to email me, theres not many Cane fans up here in DC, -OUT-

Josue Sanchez: Middleburg Florida: Canes got punked by big 12 officialsI gues they figured since Michigan could could not beat the Bucknuts then they would make sure that at least the best team in the nation would not win their sixth national championship in football. This way the big 12 and the big 10 could make a stand as being tough conferences. At least Miami has won National championships in the era of modern football, unlike Ohio state which last won a title when the Ford Edsel was stil popular, grandma moses was a babe, and leather helmets were finally outlawed for good. The T formation was still popular and the wing T could not be stopped, nowdays those relic offenses are only used by pewee footballand weak high scholl teams. In the modern age of high powered college football no team can claim as repeat national champs except for the Canes. As a long time Cane fan (since 1979) I have seen the good and the bad days and looking ahead I see nothing but bask in victory, pressure is only experienced by those that do not have the confidence to succeed.

Mike Soumas: Old Tappan, New Jersey: Dear Hurricanes,I am a 12 year old kid from Old Tappan, New Jersey. I think you guys did a great job this year. You should have won the Fiesta Bowl. The call in overtime was not pass interference. I was cheering for you all year long. Good Luck next year! From,Mike Soumas

Susan Seay: Buffalo, NY: This message is for Willis (and all the Canes). My son attends Ohio State and although we watched the game with great anticipation and hope it broke our hearts to see Willis injured. You are such a talented football player among many on your team. Our prayers go out to you as you begin your rehabilitation from your injury. We pray that your surgery went well, your rehabilitation better and that you are back on the field for next year. We will look forward to seeing you there for another go around!!! Go Canes and Go Bucks!!!

Steven Cowen: San Diego, CA: Canes FansThe top high school offensive player inOhio – a tight end just revoked his commitment to Ohio State and is coming to Miami. Most of the nation was rooting against us because of the winning streak and the natural backing of an underdog. But, now everyone seems to think Miami was cheated and we have more sympathy then ever before. Should be great for 2003.

“Ms Ray”: Port Arthur, Texas: Best wishes to new #88, tight end, Kevin Everett….we are all very proud of you and plan to be in Miami next year to see you score!!!!!

Patrick Bryde: Gulfport, MS: Just want to say thank you for the last three years…but I do not think your domination is anywhere near it’s end. Now that we no longer have that streak to worry about, lets go get another championship. Win or lose, I’ll still bleed orange and green!

John Maier: Grand Rapids, Mich: CanesI went to UM from 87-89, and LOVE Hurricane football. You had a great season and I watched as many of the games as I could. It’s a lot of fun to watch such skilled players week after week.Sorry about the bowl game. The call didn’t bother me as much as the lateness of the call. They waited almost 7 seconds ofter the infraction before throwing the flag, 4 seconds after the play was blown dead. Once you celebrated and the fireworks went off, that was it. I felt the same way. It was such a relief, an outpouring of emotion, it was probably very difficult to get back out there and play tough Hurricane football after being so relieved, then deflated once the flag was thrown. But on Jan 4th, I was wearing my Hurricane jacket out in public, taking all the crap from the Buckeye fans up here.Thank you, and keep working hard.Next year’s Championship game: Hurricanes 34, Oklahoma 13.

Claudia Offutt-Banks, Arlington, Virginia: As a proud UM mom and a football fanatic, you guys are the greatest. I’ve had more fun the past two seasons travelling around the country to see you represent UM. You are the greatest!I was at the Fiesta Bowl, and I know who the real champs are despite what the scoreboard said. Forget it…next year you’ll be back.To those of you who won’t be back next season, thank you for all the joy you have brought to so many people.Ken Dorsey, you are a class act.Haji–I’m the mom you met at the Temple game, and you were a sweetheart to have remembered me when you met my daughter at the football banquest. She didn’t believe me when I told her we had spoken after the game, but she does now! I have the picture of the two of you together hanging on my bulletin board.God bless each one of you.

Mark Shields: Miami, FL: Congrats on a great season. I have been a long time ‘Canes fan and will always be so. Looking forward to another great year and many championships to go. Hang your heads high!!!

Jessika Alvarez: Homestead, Fl: Keep your heads up. In my book you guys are 3-peat national champs! 2000, 2001, and 2002. thanks for a great season, and lets go for four next year!

Mary Jane Heater : Sprinfield, VirginiaIn my heart I know you won the Nat’l Championship. Good job. OSU was terrible dirty and I was so proud of the Canes and how you played a clean game and WON. Congrats on a great run…time to start it again. Plus, you impressed a great player from Ohio who was to go to OSU and chose UM after that game! I think that says a lot. Good luck in your futures…those of you who graduate. I will be watching for you in the NFL or wherever else you go. You others, practice and go to class…an education is invaluable.

Roderick Graham: Tallahassee, Fl: Hey Guys hell of a game, we gave them the game, then we took it back, and then we all know the rest. Hey Coker we have come along way in this proud program, but don’t forget from which came from when the defense gives you a big turnover you reward them by doing what the ole MIAMI teams used to the only thing we knew in the pre-BUTCH dayz. GO DEEP BABY. Key point of every game this year is that after many of our turnovers we didn’ reward the D, for me a fan since 84 please send somebody deep after a turnover. SEAN TAYLOR BEST SAFETY IN THE COUNTRY ED WHO? KEEP YOUR HEAD AND YOUR FEET GROUNDED DAWG AND LET’S TAKE SOMETHING BABY NEXT YEAR IT’S ANOTHER WAKE UP CALL NO COMPUTER’S AND NO REFS CONTROL OUR DESTINY COME AND PLAY BALL AND LET THE SCORE DO OUR TALKING!!!!!!!!!! WE WANT THE MUTT.

Oliver McKenzie: Dallas, TX: First of all, let me say that the country knows who are the real champions. The game was unbelieveable. I grew up in Miami and played with and against some of the past Canes in High School. I currently live in BIG 12 country and they hate the Canes, but I’m proud to say that I am a Canes fan. I will always be a Cane fan no matter what the win/loss records are.

My heart goes out to Willis McGahee. I pray that his recovery will be speedy. I believe he is one of the greatest running back to ever play the game. This year will be a tough one for Willis, but please make sure that he doesn’t give up. I don’t believe he will but with our support we can help him through this though time. The tough time is what builds character and perservance. I want to see him play on Sunday, because he deserves it.

Can’t wait till the 2003 season starts, I will see you all in the Orange Bowl.

GO CANES!!!!!!!!!

sheven marshall: miami, fl: Watching you guys play every saturday filled my heart with great joy. As we all know we should have won that game against Ohio State but it’s like that sometimes. As I watched some players cry I couldn’t help but think there was nothing to shed a tear for except for Willis. Always remember that football is just a game and there’s a lot of people in the world who lost the game of their life. Just ask big Vince,Chris’s parents or just ordinary people who die from violence and other God for saken things. Good luck next season and I’ll always be rooting the HURRICANES.Sheven Marshall

Walt Pisarski: Severna Park, MD: Hope to see the Canes next year at the Sugar Bowl. Best wishes to Willis for a full and speedy recovery and thanks for another great season. It’s great to be a Miami Hurricane!

Justin Piccin: Salesville, Ohio: It’s tough to be a fan up here, but the Hurricanes are still my team, you guys did great and I’m looking forward to next season. What kills me is that now that the Buckeyes won a National Championship, every one up here has a head so big there bodys can hardly support the weight. Every one I talk to I tell them, It would have been completely different if the game was played at the Orange Bowl!!!!!!All Right Guys, time to start a new streek. Now go and get back that Championship!!Hurricanes!!!!

Jay A Merindo: Alameda, California:Dear 2002 Miami Hurricanes- Thanks for the great and exiting 2002 NCAA football season. All I know is next year we’ll go higher and Kenllen Winslow Jr….it’s just the begining. Jay A Merindo

sfc james: colorado springs co: we need to upgrade our defense alot this has got to be the worsr i have seen it since 83 plus we need more plays down the field. we also need to concentrate more too many penalties if we fix those things we can beat any team on the planet.by the way get healthy willis.

Kenneth A. Welch: Long Beach, California: Once again the hurricanes were screwed. first their screwed in 2000 by the BCS. And this year their screwed by a ref who was obviously payed by OSU. The game was ours and a PI call that did not even happen. But its cool though, like all the rest of us hurricane fans are saying,”we’ll be back”. The question is OSU, will you?

ROCKY TAYLOR, CLEVELAND,OHIO: TO WILLIS MCGAHEE,WE HOPE AND PRAY FOR COMPLETE RECOVERY.WE HERE IN OHIO ,PRIOR TO THE GAME,WERE WELL AWARE OF THE CHALLENGE ,BECAUSE WE KNEW THAT THE HURRICANES HAD PLAYERS LIKE WILLIS MCGAHEE.I CANNOT REMEMBER ,IN WATCHING OSU FOR MORE THAN 35 YEARS,EVER PLAYING AN OPPONENT AS GOOD AS THE HURRICANES.EVER.SPEEDY RECOVERY TO YOU.

jan martin: pembroke pines, fl: You deserved to win I was planning to bet on it. That bad call was not deserved by the referee you were the real winners. I will admitt I like the Buckeyes but I went where my loyalties lie and I was all in my Cane gear. Why did they deserve to win they did not have a win since thirty five years ago you had more recent wins. You are still #1 and will remain so for a very, very, very, very long time and that is your deserved status not the Buckeyes who should be still number 2. I really cried when I came back from seeing it on ABC second time that I have ever cried was Miami at Florida State University knew they were going to come back and they did as usual all thanks to Xavier Beiter of Florida State University. I love you all God bless you all and by the way who will replace Ken Dorsey and Mcgahee and what are their plans for furture and the rest of the team. Remember you are still #1. Thank you Miami you are still respected and always will be. You are all truel!y beautiful and all the best for the 2003 and many years to come and you will again this year and hopefully next year. You may make a record. Congratulations on your 37 consecutive wins watched every single game. true and loyal fan(last four and half years known about you all almost two decades)Jan Martin(from the United Kingdom)

Lyle Romer: Davie, FL: As an alumni and season ticket holder who has been to almost every home game since I graduated (including every game in the 1997 5-6 season) I just wanted to say how proud I am of the team and the run that we’ve been on. Even the greatest teams can’t win every game or win the championship every year. We’ll be back next year. I know that it’s easy for me to say but work hard in the offseason and turn your focus to next season. Hopefully I’ll get to make my third straight trip to the BCS championship game.

greg twigg, holland Ohio: I am the BIGGEST Hurricane fan in the state of Ohio. I have been ripped on for the past week and a half. But I could care less because I cheered and always will cheer for you no matter what. I and others have notice that the University of Miami win like champions and when you lose (not often does that happen) you lose like champions Miami Hurricans football and players are a class act. Lets get it back next January. Congrats to Ken Dorsey on his game in the East/West shrine game .

javier ruiz: memphis, tennessee: Dear Hurricanes,My name is Javier Ruiz and I am ten years old. I am a fan of yours because my dad went to UM.the hurricanes are now #2 in the country. To me #2 is awsome and you guys still did great at the fiesta bowl.you still did good at the national championship because you kept on fighting and held on a long time before it was over.in my head i still think you are #1 by how you guys played friday night.i watched the big east vs. west and ken dorsey played great. And I will still keep willis mcgahee in my prayers.javier from memphis

Bob Boschen: Pensacola FL: To Coach Coker, his staff, and all of the great players:You were robbed of a victory – and a trophy – but you are still champions to me! Congratulations on another great season!Bob Boschen

warren shaw: daytona beach’ fl: i can’t wait until next year. with the guys we have coming back and the guys we have coming in,the canes will rule the world again! thanks for a great season and best wishes to willis and all the seniors. warren shaw

mohammad shatara: belle glade: the canes played there hearts out , we lost but we are still a dynastyyy by heart and soul not to mention our rings 19831987198919912001 we are trully the lord of the rings ohio state knows very well if it wasnt for the dum def and blind ref we wouldve claimed another title. its ok we are awsome in recrruiting speed and talent not to mention the respect we have for being a clean program we will always compete we will never stop competing we are trully lord of college football and an nfl factory . to willis magahee i pray for you to make a full recovery salamooalakoom peace and love from the shatara family to all the hurricanes past and present

David Cottar Jr.: Key West, FL.: Good job this season guys! I know it didn’t end the way you wanted, but you guys are still the best. Even Ohio State knows that! 34 wins in a row, it had to end eventually I guess, but it was a hell of a streak! Keep your heads up guys, you’ll be back next year, and ill be at the O.B. to see you spank the gators again, see you then!

Gary Musgrave: Abilene, Texas: I’ve been a huge fan since Bernie Kosar days, and I wish you guys the best in all your efforts. I hate that you lost such a huge game on a call that apparently was changed three times by the same ref. I laid awake ’till 4am just shaking my head. It was a bad call. This last three years has been so great for me to be able to follow such a group of champions. Such great players, and young men, on and off the field. You are back to back Champions in football as far as I am concerned, and also Champions all around!! Sincerely, Gary Musgrave

Brittany Hoyte: West Palm Beach, FL: Hey guys,Keep your spirits up and get ready for next season. Hope everyone’s doing o.k.,tell McGahee we’re all here rooting for him and hoping he gets better soon. My Dad and I have been to every home game this season.Take care and work hard for the next season!!!Your Fan,Brittany

Steve Adamson: Cleveland , Ohio: Team, coaches, and everyone involved with the great University of Miami football program. What a run it’s been and to know that we can work on another one. Miami is very special and the players that come out and play for Miami are Miami. A special breed, a step above. A unique tradition has developed at the University of Miami and it’s called winning. Even when we lose which is very seldom, teams have to take us down to the wire. SoI know that everyone coming back next year is going to be proud, confident and dedicated to the cause. It is amazing that a little private school in a far corner of these United States can play with the best of the behemoths and be better than most. I am very proud to be a Hurricane fan and want to thank all of the seniors for a magnificient year. It’s been said that Miami doesn’t rebuild, it reloads. Let’s everyone work hard, welcome the new class of very talented recruits and keep this machine rolling. Years from now we will be readin!g about the winning record that you Canes have achieved. Willis McGahee my prayers are with you for a full and speedy recovery. Best of luck and Go Canes!

Daniel Leaverton: Ft. Myers Beach, FL: The refs did what 34 teams couldn’t do and that was beat the University of Miami. Keith Jackson said that call shouldn’t have been made. If you look at the tape, it seems the Ohio State player is going for the knee with his helmet.

Christina Jenkins: Benton, Louisiana: Hey!!! I am an Oklahoma Sooner Fan just wanting to say y’all had an awesome season and I was going for y’all in the National Championship Bowl Game!!! I wanted y’all to win so bad!!! I am going to one of y’alls games this year!! I’m going to the Miami-LA Tech game!!! I know y’all are gonna kick thier butt!!! Y’all are the best team in the nation!!! Oh yeah Willis GET WELL VERY SOON!!! Can’t wait to see y’all in Shreveport!!! Love always…Christina Jenkins!!OH YEAH GO CANES!!!!

R. Woods: Maryville, TN: I have been a Miami fan since I can remember and I still stand behind the Miami program. This team has done a fantastic job all year and if I had the bank account to do so, I would change my whole wardrobe to boast the Miami program.GO HURRICANES; I AM A FAN TO THE END.

P.S – WHEN I DIE, I THINK I WILL ASK TO HAVE MY CASKET DECORATED WITH THE MIAMI’S LOGO.

Rich Kovacs: Strongsville, Ohio: Great season and fantastic accomplishment in winning so many in a row. Loved Kosar (good Ohio boy) and Testaverde (good Browns QB). Give OSU their due, though, they were very tough and surprised everyone. It isn’t classy to knock OSU for a perceived bad call (several NFL officials contacted by a Cleveland sportswriter said there was pass interference before the players reached the end zone). There were many close calls and tough breaks for both teams. McGahee will be back with a vengeance and a new streak will begin. Let’s all root for a rematch in the Sugar Bowl!

Khari Bailey: San Francisco: Please forward this message to Willis Mcgahee.Congradulation on having one of the most remarkable season in most recent history.Me and my son are the biggest Cane fans outside of Florida.I Pray that you have a successful recovery and get back to what you do best.I’m very confident that i will see you in the Sugar Bowl next year to reclaim what is rightfully UM’S.I sent you some pictures of me and my son from the Rose Bowl game that you will enjoy.Get some rest and relaxation, sincerly yours Khari Bailey

Scott Slocum: Atlanta, GA: Thanks for a Great 2002 Season! No matter what the score at the Fiesta Bowl, you all showed that the Miami Hurricanes are a team of champions who never give up! We’ll be back! To all the seniors, I wish you well. I look forward to 2003. GO CANES!!

Dale Henley, West Point, MS: Great season guys, no matter what the outcome was in the Fiesta bowl, you are still winners. Was a great ride, now its time to start another streak. I was at the Sugar bowl in ’92 and i plan on seeing you guys there this year for the national championship. GO CANES!!!!!!!

Lareva Morris: Ft.Lauderdale,Florida: Hey Hurricanes, well I know your game against Ohio was a big one for you, and I feel that y’all was cheated, but it’s all good, just keep ya heads up, and it’ll be fine. Y’all played a real good game, and i’m wit’ y’all 100%, no matter what the outcome, cuz y’all the rawest team in the world-fa sho, so just put God first, and keep ya heads up, you’ll see what the outcome is.

Darrell Pierce: Winter Haven, Florida: Great season Canes. Work hard in the off season and use this to push on toward the Sugar Bowl next year. We will be there in the Orange Bowl and at the bowl game screaming our heads off in support.

Laura Callava: Miami,FL: Hey guys,Thanks for giving everyone here in Miami something to cheer about. You guys are the best. As for the loss don’t worry about it, everyone in the country knows that you won the game fair and square, as for the Buckeye fans… well you can’t be to sure about them. Well anyway I just wanted to thank you guys for having such a great season and hopefully next year I’ll see you guys in New Orleans!!From UM’s #1 fan,Laura Callava

Daryl Hill: Farmersville, California: Hello, I have been a fan of the ‘Canes for over 20 years. I am so proud of this group of kids. This was a great team. No one should feel like a failure. I have all the confidence in the coaching staff and returning players. We will be back. I look at this as a blessing in disguise. Next season we should have a chip on our shoulder. We should have the mentally of ‘Us Against The World’. In closing, I am praying for Willis to have a great recovery. To Coach Coker I say God Bless. Thank you –

Dave Focazio : Round Rock TX: You guys are still champions and don’t ever think you’re not. It took a bad call to beat you. Congratulations on a GREAT year, good luck to the future pros and especially good luck to all the returning Hurricanes that give us fans exciting Saturday afternoons. Wish I could still be there for your home games.

Lilia Medinilla: Miami, FL: Losing the champpionship was tough, and it’s still fresh in our minds, but we have the determination and perseverance. Not many programs have accomplish what we have. We will defenitely be back, stronger than ever and will show the rest of the country who really has the “Best Damn Team in the land”Please keep your heads up high, you have nothing to be ashamed of.

joel mccarrick: springfield, OREGON: hi, i love the hurricanes and know that you guys are the national champs despite the outcome of that bullshit refs call. Can’t wait til you guys kick ass next year, you’re the best team in the universe, hey email me back. forever a hurricane fan!

Todd Jamison: Stephens City, VA: Not only did the ‘Canes show how champions win, but you showed how champions lose with dignity. Credit to Coach Coker, Ken Dorsey and the senior leadership for maintaining composure.

Special message for Willis: There might have been a few idiots in the stands celebrating your early departure from the game, but you have to know that many OSU fans were stunned to see a young man of your caliber suffer such an injury. We are praying for a complete and rapid recovery. May you feel the Lord’s presence in your healing.

Best of luck, perhaps the Buckeyes and Canes can meet again next year.

Rick Cole: St. Cloud, FL: Players and Coaches,First off thanks for a wonderful season! I enjoyed every game. I know you will be back next year.Thank you for upholding the tradition of excellence of the University of Miami. We are proud of you!You will always be number one in my heart. I will always be a Canes fan and supporter.Get well Willis.Good luck next year!!

Rob Bergeman: Morristown, NJ: Congratulations on a great season again. I’ve been a canes fan since I lived in S. Miami in the 70’s. There were very many lean years back then when I used to go the games with my dad. I remember Mike Rodrique was Quaterback. Talk about challenging years. It is amazing how this program continues to be among the elite year after year since the early 1980’s. You guys have so much to be proud of. How many schools even play for a National Championship never mind back to back years? 34 wins in a row is unbelievable today with the scholarship situations and more parity. You can tell your grandkids someday that you were part of this incredible streak. Best of luck to all of you and thanks for a great season. Canes are dynamite!Bob – Morris Plains, NJ
