UM Volleyball Ranked

CORAL GABLES, Fla. (www.hurricanesports.com) – – For the first time since the program’s restoration in 2001, the University of Miami volleyball team is ranked on the USA Today/AVCA Division 1 Coaches Poll released Monday, Dec. 9.
The Hurricanes, who had not been ranked despite accumulating a 26-match win streak and victories over such elite teams as Notre Dame and South Florida, earned their honors on the court Friday and Saturday in the NCAA Tournament.
UM entered the top 25 at no. 24.
Friday, UM humbled Duke 3-0 when it held the Blue Devils to a -.029 hitting percentage.
Saturday, the Hurricanes toppled no. 15 Wisconsin 3-1 and catapulted themselves into the regional semifinal match against no. 4 Nebraska scheduled for Friday night in Lincoln, Neb., at 7 p.m.
