Men's Cross Country Returns To Action On Friday

Charlotte, NC (hurricanesports.com) – The University of Miami men’s cross country team returns to action on Friday, September 27 at The Great American Cross Country Festival being held at the Ballantyne Resort in Charlotte, NC.
The University Seeded Men’s 8,000-meter race will start at 6:35 p.m. The 2002 event projects 5000 runners from 40 states, Canada, Great Britain and Mexico to compete.
Miami, which won its first meet of the season at the UCF Invitational on September 6, will be led by the one-two punch of senior Dan Boniface (Seattle, WA) and junior Matt Mulvaney (South Hadley, MA).
Boniface (20:26.20) and Mulvaney (20:38.80) finished one-two at the UCF Invitational leading Miami to the team title. The individual meet victory for Boniface was the first his career. Boniface scorched the field in Orlando completing the four-mile course with a time of 20:26.20. Mulvaney finished 12 seconds behind with a time of 20:38.80.
Overall the Hurricanes had five runners finish in the top-28. Other Hurricanes running well at the UCF Invitational included freshmen Alex Brutvan, who took seventh (21:13.70) and James Mullaly, who finished 14th (21:34.70). Sophomore Billy Bludgus (Bayonne, NJ) rounded out the scoring for Miami with a 28th-place finish (22:17.00).
