Head Coach Nicole Lantagne Welch Named To ACC 50TH Anniversary Volleyball Team

Greensboro, N.C. – University of Miami volleyball head coach Nicole Lantagne Welch, former member of the University of Maryland volleyball team, was named to the ACC 50th Anniversary Volleyball Team on August 1.

Lantagne Welch, a three-time All-ACC selection, finished her collegiate career as the Terps’ all-time assists, digs and matches played leader. She graduated in 1994 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Marketing.

Maryland had six former players selected from teams in the 1990’s. The Anniversary Volleyball Team was announced by ACC Commissioner John Swofford. The 53-member team was voted on by the nine league institutions as decided by the league’s 50th Anniversary Committee.

As Miami’s first head volleyball coach since 1981, Lantagne Welch led the Hurricanes to a 17-7 record last season, including a 13-1 home record and an 11-match winning streak to end the season. Additionally, Lantagne Welch’s 2001 winning percentage ranks second all-time in Hurricane volleyball history, behind Cheryl Holt’s 46-15-1 (.750) record in 1981.
