Jenny Lee leads Hurricanes in athletics, academics
May 16, 2002
Senior Jenny Lee, the top coxswain for the rowing team, has been selected the January 2001 Academic All-Star after becoming a Hurricane team leader both academically and athletically.
Lee has achieved academic excellence in her Business Management Operations major. She helped lead the team to victory at this year’s Head of the Creek, where her Championship Four entry finished second behind another Miami entry and her Club Eight entry finished second behind UCF. Miami won the competition overall. At the Head of the Chattahoochee, Lee’s entry finished first on the team and fifth overall.
In her Miami career, she has guided the team to victory in both the Head of the Creek and FIRA, while placing second in the SIRA. She assisted the first varsity eight to its top two finishes ever among university entries at the Head of the Charles, and was part of Miami’s success in claiming back-to-back finishes at the FIRA and SIRA regattas in 1998 and 1999.
A younger Lee also served as the coxswain for the Leon High School crew, leading them as team captain her senior year. She took second place at the American Scholastic Nationals with a junior four and earned first-place finishes at both the First Coast and Sunburn Regattas.
