2001-02 BellSouth Directory Celebrates 75th Anniversary

CORAL GABLES, FL — www.hurricanesports.com – What’s green and orange and read all over? If you said the new 2001-2002 Greater Miami BellSouth telephone directories, you’re correct. The University of Miami is highlighted this year, gracing the cover of the new directories as it commemorates its 75th anniversary.

“The University of Miami has become a school with an international reputation for excellence,” said BellSouth Adverting and Publishing Company Sales Director Frank Bola?os. “If you are looking for an institution that continues to excel and gives this region an ongoing positive perception with the rest of the nation, it’s the University of Miami. We are proud have the green and orange on our yellow pages.”

“We would like to share our 75th anniversary celebration with the 1.8 million businesses and households that receive the BellSouth directories,” said Donna E. In addition to the University of Miami adorning the front covers, the Greater Miami directories will have a new look on the inside, as well. It will contain a new, special Spanish-language section of “The Real Yellow Pages.” This section, separated by its own tab, will appear at the (beginning, middle, or end of The Real Yellow Pages. Bola?os said the new Spanish-language section of “The Real Yellow Pages” from BellSouth is the direct result of both English and Spanish speaking businesses eager to reach this vibrant market of permanent residents and tourists.

“Our areas vital Hispanic community makes important contributions to business and cultural life in our region,” said Bola?os. “BellSouth’s introduction of the Spanish-language Yellow Pages is an important recognition of the ways this vital part of our community enriches our lives and strengthen our economy.”

Another feature available to Real Yellow Pages users is that the telephone directory can also be found online. To look up a number on the web go to RealPages.com.

Additionally this year’s Greater Miami directory contains a variety of new consumer-oriented features including bright color-coded tabs and headings to separate each section of the directory. Another new feature consumers will immediately notice when they receive the new directory is that the design of the cover also has changed. To help users find information quickly the same colored -coded tabs and headings that are used to separate each section inside the directory also can be found running down the side of front cover.

The book also is now jam-packed with useful information like detailed street maps, colorful seating charts, enhanced public school information and even details about the most popular area attractions. (Community Interest Pages (CIPs-Select Markets) And for the first time, The Real Yellow Pages from BellSouth will feature a section called the “Idea Guides”. (Select Markets)

The Idea Guides are packed with useful tips on everything from choosing an attorney, physician or insurance company, to finding a restaurant, or buying a car. For example, the Idea Guide for Physicians and Surgeons provides tips on exercising, choosing a doctor, tips on staying healthy while traveling as well as a list of related yellow pages headings and Internet resources that consumers can access for more information. Another new feature of this year’s The Real Yellow Pages is the addition of the URL address listings, for those residences and businesses that choose to do so, in both the white and yellow pages. Consumers now can find out more about a business by going from the ad to their computer and accessing the advertiser’s home page.

We know that The Real Yellow Page is used extensively by consumers to locate goods and services as well as to provide tourism, dining, and shopping recommendations. We believe that with the addition of these new enhancements and special features, The Real Yellow Pages has become an even more powerful and complete information source for both consumers and advertisers.”

Also new is the look and feel of the yellow pages themselves. Customers will note that the old grey banner at the top of the yellow pages has been replaced with a multi-colored bar. The heading at the top of each page, along with the sub-headings, cross-references and “see also” headings are now surrounded by a bright gold oval instead of the old gray background. To make it even easier to read, the words “cross reference” will appear in a red lettering that will immediately convey to the consumer that they need to look elsewhere to find information.
