Two UM Runners Earn All-South Honors

Tuscaloosa, AL – University of Miami senior Shannon Sarabyn (Centreville, VA) finished 12th in the women’s competition while junior Jeff Gaulrapp (Baldwinsville, NY) finished 20th in the men’s competition to earn All-South Region honors at the NCAA South Region Cross Country Championships in Tuscaloosa, AL.

Sarabyn completed the 6,000-meter course in a time of 21:26.92 while Gaulrapp posted a time of 32:16.57 in the men’s 10,000-meter race.

Sarabyn and Gaulrapp end the season having registered record setting campaigns.

Sarabyn, the Hurricanes top finisher in every meet this season, established a school record with five consecutive victories to open the season and went on to earn All-State honors for the second time of her career with a fourth-place finish at the Florida Intercollegiate Cross Country Championships.

Gaulrapp was just as impressive this season recording four individual victories including three straight victories to open the season. The three consecutive wins established a UM record.

Gaulrapp also earned All-State honors this season with a third-place finish at the Florida Intercollegiate Championships. At this season’s BIG EAST Championships he became the first runner in UM history to run under 25 minutes (24:37) for 8,000-meters.
