Cataldo Finishes Ninth At Pine Needles

Coral Gables, FL – University of Miami freshman Jazmin Cataldo (Paraguay) fired a final round 74 to finish ninth at the Pine Needles Women’s Collegiate Invitational in Southern Pines, NC.
Cataldo (75-73-74–222) finished six strokes behind individual champion Fany Schaeffer (South Florida). Schaeffer (71-73-72–216) defeated Campbell’s Laura Torrisi (73-71-72–216) in a sudden-death playoff.
Miami, which shot a total of 309 for the third consecutive day, finished in ninth-place. Michigan State (307-295-288), who trailed Alabama and South Florida by seven strokes heading into the final day, fired a final round 288 to overtake both institutions and win the team title.
South Florida (301-294-298–893) finished second while Alabama (291-304-311–906) took fourth. Kentucky recorded a final round total of 304 to move into third-place.
Sophomore Dominique Gagnon (Dominican Republic) recorded a 78 on Wednesday to finish in a tie for 18th (73-75-78–226). Also playing well for the Hurricanes was senior Ashleigh Barrett-Hamilton (Zimbabwe). Barrett-Hamilton (79-78-76–233) shot 76 on the final day to finish in 32nd-place.
