Women's Crew Competes At Head Of The Schuykill Regatta

Coral Gables, FL (www.hurricanesports.com) – The University of Miami varsity women’s crew rowed to its fastest times of the season against a field of top national competition at the 2000 Thomas Eakins Head of the Schuykill Regatta on the Schuykill River.
In the championship eight finals, UM finished 8th among the 24 collegiate boats entered with a time 15:22.42. The UM entry was rowed by Jenny Krawec, Sheila Cornelius, Cathy Dunnet, Monika Manios, Amanda Turner, Dorien ten Have, Bridgett Gallagher, Jacqui Julien and coxswain Jenny Lee. Syracuse won the event with a time of 14:37.05, ahead of Michigan State (14:49.03) and UMass-Amherst (15:02.54).
In the club eight finals, the UM entry placed 12th out of the 40 boats entered. The boat, rowed by Jordanna Heywood, Marijka VanderPol, Kate Weeden, Trish Gallagher, Yianna Reizakis, Ananda Chou, Stephanie Tilley, Ruza Rebac and coxwain Cina Quezada, finished with a time of 16:01.03. Michigan State won the event with a time of 15:09.08, ahead of Syracuse (15:30.33) and the U.S. Naval Academy (15:32.19).
Following the Head of the Schuykill, the varsity women will travel to Princeton for the Princeton Chase on Lake Carnegie.
