Hurricane Runners Head To BIG EAST Championships

Chestnut Hill, MA – The University of Miami men’s and women’s cross country teams will compete at the BIG EAST Cross Country Championships on Friday, October 27 in Chestnut Hill, MA.

The men’s 8,000-meter race will begin at 11:30 a.m. with the women’s 5,000-meter competition starting at 12:20 p.m.

The Hurricane women have been led this season by senior Shannon Sarabyn, while junior Jeff Gaulrapp has led the UM men.

Sarabyn, Miami’s top finisher in 11 of the last 12 races dating back to last season, has won five of six events this season and has nine career individual titles to her credit. Sarabyn finished fourth at the Florida Intercollegiate Cross Country Championships on October 13 to earn All-State honors for the second time of her career.

Gaulrapp, the Hurricanes’ top finisher in every meet this season, has won four of six events this season. Gaulrapp finished third at the State Championships to earn All-State honors for the first time.

Also earning All-State honors on October 13 was junior Dan Boniface who finished fourth. Boniface, a transfer from Washington State, has been second to Gaulrapp in Miami’s last five races.
