UM Golfers Finish Fifth At Beacon Invitational

Bayonet Point, FL – The University of Miami women’s golf team (311-312-305–928) shot a final round score of 305 to finish in a fifth-place at the Beacon Woods Invitational in Bayonet Point, FL.
Host South Florida (309-301-296–906) defended its title finishing eight strokes ahead of Central Florida (310-302-302–914) and 17 strokes ahead of Alabama-Birmingham (315-301-307–923). Memphis (311-312-302–925) finished fourth.
Sophomore Dominique Gagnon (La Romana, Domincan Republic) finished in a tie for 12th place (78-76-75–229) to lead Miami. UM senior Ashleigh Barrett-Hamilton (Karoi, Zimbabwe) shot 77 for the second consecutive day to finish in a tie for 20th (78-77-77–232).
Michelle Simpson (Florida International) and Heather Lourie (Alabama-Birmingham) tied for the individual championship shooting a three-round total of 221.
The Hurricanes return to action next weekend when they travel to Greenville, SC for the Lady Paladin Invitational, October 20-22.
