Miami Seventh after First Day of Rider Championship

MIAMI LAKES, Fla. – CentralFlorida freshman Line Berg fired aone-under-par 71 to take a commanding eight stroke lead heading intothefinal round of competition at the RYDER Florida Women’s CollegiateGolfChampionships at Don Shula’s Golf Club and Resort in Miami Lakes, FL.

Berg (72-71-143) leads teammateMonica Gundersrud (74-77-151) whoshot a second round 77 in falling eight strokes back. South Florida’sKellyLagerdrost (76-76-152) and Florida’s Tanja Arnold (75-77-152) are tiedforthird.

As a team Central Florida(608) leads Florida State (616) by eightstrokes as it attempts to win its first RYDER/Florida Women’sIntercollegiate championship. Florida State recorded a second-round296 inmoving up three places. South Florida (312-312-624) is in third whilefour-time defending champion Florida (311-314-625) is in fourth.

Defending individual championAmy Bond (Florida State) fired asecond-round 74 to move into a tie for fifth (79-74-153). Otherplayersmaking significant moves included Florida International’s Ellen Dunne(81-72-153) and Florida State’s Amy Spooner (81-72-153) who both shotsecondround 72 to jump from a 29th-place tie to a tie for fifth.

Host Miami shot a secondround 324 to drop into seventh-place. TheHurricanes have been led by senior Luisa Cuartas (75-81-156) who currentlystands in 13th-place.

The championship’s finalround will take place Sunday, April 4beginning at 7:30 a.m. Admission is free.
