Lane Carico named Muscle Milk Student-Athlete of the Week
Dec. 7, 2009
Lane Carico (So., Manhattan Beach, Calif.) has been named this week’s Muscle Milk Student-Athlete of the Week for the period running December 7-13. Carico, an outside hitter for the Hurricanes volleyball team, helped Miami with a match-high 21 kills in its opening round match against FIU in the NCAA Volleyball Tournament [Gainesville Regional] last Thursday evening in Gainesville, Fla. In the tough 3-2 setback for the ‘Canes, Carico established a new school record for kills in a postseason match (21), also taking in 15 digs for her ACC-leading 20th double-double of the season. Carico became just the third player in UM history to grab a double-double in a postseason match, joining Elizabeth Tyson and Valeria Tipiana with the distinction—both of whom gained the honor in Miami’s “Sweet 16” run back in 2002. Earlier in the day, Carico was selected to the All-ACC Team alongside teammate Cassie Loessberg. |
