Volleyball Set To Face FAU

Coral Gables, Fla. (www.hurricanesports.com) – The University of Miami volleyball team looks to bounce back from only its third loss of the season as it faces in-state opponent Florida Atlantic Tuesday, Oct. 29 at 7 p.m. in Boca Raton, Fla.
Florida Atlantic will look to even the season series between the teams as the Hurricanes recorded a three-game sweep of the Owls (30-21, 30-26, 30-27) earlier this season in Coral Gables, Fla. Additionally, Miami is 4-1 against Florida teams this season and 11-5 since the program’s restoration in 2001, including wins over Florida State, Florida International and South Florida.
The Hurricanes (18-3, 5-2 BIG EAST) are coming off a three-game road loss to BIG EAST opponent Virginia Tech (30-28, 30-24, 30-25). Despite the loss, sophomore outside hitter Valeria Tipiana recorded an outstanding performance for Miami leading with a match-high 18 kills and a .424 attack percentage.
The Owls are coming off a five-game victory over Troy State on Saturday afternoon (30-21, 24-30, 30-32, 30-29, 16-14) improving their season record to 13-12 overall and 8-2 in the Atlantic Sun Conference.
The Hurricanes continue BIG EAST competition Friday, Nov. 1 as they host St. John’s at 7 p.m. at the Knight Sports Complex on the UM campus.
