Keim, Lengyel Named Big East Divers of the Year

UNIONDALE, NY – Junior All-American and 1999 NCAA Diver of the Year Jenyy Keim and sophomore All-American Imre Lengyel were awarded for their performances at the 2000 BIG EAST Championships by each being named BIG EAST Diver of the Year. Keim, took home first place in both the one-and three-meter for the women, while Lengyel took home first in the one-meter and second in the three-meter. Also, head diving coach Randy Ableman was named the 1999-2000 BIG EAST Diving Coach of the Year.

On Saturday, the women were led by senior All-American Amy Lindblom, junior Jen Weir, and freshman Elaine Schwartz. Lindblom took second-place in the 1650-yard freestyle, while Weir took second in the 100-yard freestyle and Schwartz tallied a third-place finish in the 200-yard butterfly.

For the men, junior Scott Gentles brought home a second-place finish to pace the Hurricanes.During the championships the Hurricanes took home four individual championships, aside from those won by Keim and Lengyel. Weir brought home the 200-yard individual medley and 200-yard freestyle, while Schwartz won the 400-yard IM and freshman Kyle Prandi grabbed the three-meter diving for the men.

The women finished in third place overall, one point behind second-place Rutgers, while the men finished in sixth place overall.
