UM Volleyball to Face FAU on the Road

Coral Gables, Fla. – The University of Miami volleyball team will take a short drive north to Boca Raton for a five-set match against Florida Atlantic University on Sat., Apr. 10, at the FAU Arena beginning at 10 a.m. Admission to the match is free, and fans are encouraged to attend the event.

The Hurricanes, competing for the first time in two weeks when they took part in the Rice Tournament in Houston, are prepared for their third event of the spring schedule. This is just the second head-to-head match for the `Canes, having defeated Florida Gulf Coast (W, 4-1) in a head-to-head meeting at the James L. Knight Sports Complex in Coral Gables on Mar. 13.

Miami and FAU faced each other twice during the 2008 regular season, with the `Canes taking both matches in Coral Gables and Boca Raton, respectively. This is the first time the two south Florida teams are facing each other since that time.

After facing the Owls, Miami will continue its spring practices before concluding the spring slate with the annual Fiesta on Siesta Key beach volleyball classic on Sat., Apr. 17. Miami is participating as one of the 22-team field at the Collegiate Beach Volleyball Challenge on Siesta Key, Fla. Others participating in this year’s event include in-state schools such as Florida Gulf Coast, USF, Florida UCF, Stetson, Jacksonville, Florida State, Webber, Florida Atlantic, FIU and Southeastern – as well as a host of others outside the Sunshine State.
