Volleyball Hosts South Florida

Coral Gables, Fla. (www.hurricanesports.com) – The University of Miami volleyball team (17-2, 5-1 BIG EAST) will face a stern test Monday evening at 7 p.m. when it hosts South Florida (19-4, 6-0 C-USA) at the Knight Sports Complex.
The Bulls roll into Monday’s meeting boasting a season-long nine-match win streak. After starting the season with consecutive losses at the Howdy’s Pepperdine Classic, USF has rolled of a 19-2 record.
The Hurricanes will be looking to rebound from a disappointing 3-2 loss to cross-town rival Florida International last Wednesday.
UM tops the BIG EAST Conference in three categories including kills per game (17.10), hitting percentage (.279), and assists (15.27).
Senior outside hitter Marcela Gamarra (Medellin, Colombia/Miami-Dade CC) leads the Hurricanes with 4.13 kills per game. Gamarra is second on the team on defense with 3.09 digs per game. Jamie Grass (Manhattan Beach, Calif./Mira Costa HS) leads the squad in digs with 3.88 per game.
Michelle Collier leads the Bulls with 5.46 kills per game and 3.23 digs per game. Setter Alessandra with 12.88 assists per game.
