CORAL GABLES, Fla. – University of Miami junior outside hitter Bridget Bomhack was named ACC Volleyball Co-Player of the Week, the Atlantic Coast Conference announced Tuesday. Bomhack, who led the Hurricanes to a pair of 3-0 wins over North Carolina and N.C. State in Coral Gables in UM’s final two matches last week, shared the honor with Clemson’s Danielle Hepburn.
Bomhack, a native of Waukesha, Wis., registered 12 kills and 12 digs with four blocks in Miami’s 3-0 sweep over the Tar Heels on Wednesday, and then had 13 kills, with a team-best hitting percentage of .391, 11 digs and three blocks in a sweep of the Wolfpack on Friday afternoon. For the week, she averaged 4.17 kills per game with a .373 percentage, 3.83 digs per game and 1.17 blocks per game as UM finished the season with a 14-17 overall record, including an 8-14 record in conference play. It was the first time that Bomhack had recorded a double-double in back-to-back matches in league play.
She finished the season ranked second on the team in kills (283), assists (149), digs (311) and total blocks (63) in addition to ranking third in aces (28).
Clemson’s Hepburn shared the honor with Bomhack after recording 11 kills versus Maryland and 17 against Boston College.
The league honor marks the first of Bomhack’s career and the first for a UM player this season.
