2016 Indoor: Made season debut at the LSU High Performance Meet, placinf second in the shot put with a mark of 18.54m and seventh in the weight throw with a personal-best mark of 18.12m that ranks second in UM history … Placed ninth in the weight throw at the ACC Indoor Championships with a personal-best mark of 18.94m that ranks second in school history … Finished fourth in the shot put at the ACC Indoor Championships with a season-best mark of 18.72m
2015 Outdoor: Placed fourth in the men’s discus at FSU Relays with a throw of 52.60m … Finished second in the men’s shot put with a mark of 18.88m … Competed in the hammer throw at FSU Relays

2014 Outdoor: Won the men’s discus with a throw of 52.06m at the Hurricane Invitational … Claimed first place (17.45m) in the top two spots on the men’s shot put at the Hurricane Invitational … Placed second with a personal-best throw of 51.56m to increase his school-best mark by one-tenth of a meter at the Hurricane Invitiational … Won the shot put with a throw of 18.02m and won the discus with a throw of 53.25m at the Miami Invitational … Won the men’s shot put with a throw of 17.75m and placed second in the discus with a school record mark of 56.68m at the Hurricane Alumni Invitational … Placed fourth the hammer with a personal best mark of 52.33m at the Hurricane Alumni Invitational … Set a new school record in the shot put with a throw of 18.91m and placed second in men’s discus with a mark of 54.53m at the ACC championship … Was named field MVP at the ACC championships … Competed in the discus with a throw of 51.68m at the NCAA Division I East Preliminary Round.

2013 Outdoor: Recorded personal-best in shot put with 18.89m at ACC Outdoor Track & Field Championships … Set another personal record in discus at ACC Track & Field Championships (54.41m) … Had seven first place finishes in Outdoor competitions … Named field MVP at ACC Outdoor Championships … earned All-ACC honors after a pair of Top 3 finishes in shotput (1st) and discus (3rd) at ACC Outdoor Championships … Broke the Miami records in shotput (6’1 11.75″), discus (178′ 6″) and hammer throw (168′ 10″) this season.
2013 Indoor: Finished first in New Mexico Collegiate Classic, throwing 17.00m in shotput … Gained first place finish at ACC Championships in shotput, recording 17.72m … Had five top-two finishes in indoor competitions … Broke Vince Wilfork’s nearly twelve year old indoor shotput record in his first collegiate meet … Ultimately, broke on record several times setting a new school-best mark at 18.17m.
High School: Competed in shotput, discus and hammer throw at Woodbridge Senior HS… Holds every Viginia state record in throwing events… Named 2011Virginia Gatorade Athlete of the Year… Named all-area Athlete of the Year in Indoor and Outdoor junior and senior year… Named first team all-metro in Indoor and All-Metro Athlete of the Year in Outdoor senior year… Named first team all-area in Indoor and Outdoor and first team all-metro sophomore year… three-time all-american (two in shotput, one in discus), seven-time state champion (five in shotput, two in discus), nine-time regional champion (six in shotput, three in discus), and 11-time district champion (eight in shotput, three in discus)… Team MVP and captain sophomore through senior years… Recorded personal bests of 68 ft. in shotput, 196 ft. 8 in. in discus, and 173 ft. 10 in. in hammer throw.
Personal: Sport administration major… Plans to pursue professional career or become graduate assistant to get Master’s degree and pursue job for college or professional team… Son of Dwight and Shannon Simmons… Has one sister, Briana (20)… Speaks at elementary and middle schools about balancing academics and athletics.
