AS A SENIOR (2006): Finished sixth at the ACC Outdoor Championships in the 1500-meters (4:26.63) qualifying for the NCAA East Regional meet…finished 21st in the 1,500-meters at the NCAA East Regional (4:36.62)…won the Hurricane Invitional in the 1500-meter (4:35.65)…was the top collegiate finisher, placing second overall, in the1500-meters (4:28.91) at the Miami Elite Inviational…top collegiate finisher at the Florida Intercollegiate placing 3rd in the mile (4:54.47)…finished sixth in the ACC Indoor Track and Field Championships in the mile (4:54.75)… became first woman in Miami history to run in the NCAA Cross Country Championships…became first woman in Miami history to break 20 minutes in the 6k for cross country…school-record holder in the indoor mile, as well as the outdoor mile, 1,500-meters and 5,000-meters.

AS A JUNIOR (2005): Placed fourth in the mile run (4:52.85) at the ACC Indoor Track and Field Championships…set school-record in the mile run with a time of 4:46.81 at the Alex Wilson Invitational (3/5/05)…finished fourth in the 1,500-meters (4:26.03) and fifth in the 5,000-meters (16:44.10) at the ACC Outdoor Track and Field Championships setting school-records and NCAA Regional qualifying marks in both events…became the first UM distance runner to qualify for regional competition…had never run the 5000-meters prior to the ACC Championships…has lowered the school-record in the 1,500-meters a total of three times this season…placed 22nd at the NCAA East Regional in the 5,000-meters (16:44.68)…was Miami’s top finisher at all six cross country meets during the 2004 season…earned All-South Region honors with a 22nd-place finish at the NCAA South Region Championships.

AS A SOPHOMORE (2003-04): Finished sixth in the one mile run at the BIG EAST Indoor Championships in a school-record time of 5:01.86… member of the seventh-place distance medley relay team at the BIG EAST Indoor Championships (12:07.92)…set a career-best time of 4:39.30 in the 1500 meters at the Miami Gatorade Invitational…was Miami’s top cross country runner during the 2003 season…won two meets and was the Hurricanes top finisher in five of six meets…won the FIU Invitational (18:59.59) as well as the PBA Sailfish Invitational (18:27.03)…posted a season-best time for 6000-meters of 22:17.16 at the NCAA South Region Cross Country Championships.

AS A FRESHMAN (2002-03): Competed in the 1,500-meters and 800-meters during the outdoor track season and was a member of the UM cross country team… turned in a personal-best at the Gatorade Invitational with a time of 4:57.20 in the 1,500-meters, upping her previous best of 5:09.27 set at the Hurricane Invitational… had a season-best time of 25:12.17 in the 6,000-meter race at the Gator Cross Country Invitational and posted a time of 20:59.00 in the 5,000-meter event at the Florida International, Florida Memorial Tri Cross Country Meet.

HIGH SCHOOL: Competed in the 800-meter, mile, 4×800-meter, 4×400-meter, and ran cross country at Davison High School… An All-State All-Academic and All-Conference selection senior season… served as the team captain senior season… part of the school-record setting 4×800-meter team.

PERSONAL: Full name is Melanie Gail Marie Schultz… born on July 5, 1983… majoring in Marine Science and Biology… high school class salutatorian… daughter of Mike and Debbie Schultz… has two sisters, Debbie (16) and Jennie (13).
