M. Tennis Rolls On, Sweeps Virginia Tech
CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The University of Miami men’s tennis team (12-8, 4-5 ACC) secured its eighth sweep of the season with a 4-0 decision over the Virginia Tech Hokies (4-12, 2-7 ACC) on Friday afternoon.
The Hurricanes opened with clinching the doubles point. Antonio Prat and Rafael Segado took down Ilyas Fahim and Patrik Jurina, 6-4, before Nacho Serra Sanchez and Jules Garot fell 6-3 to Frank Thompson and Drew Fishback on court three.
Down to the top court, Mehdi Sadaoui and Jakub Kroslak secured it with a 6-4 win over Blake Hilsen and Eyal Shumilov.
In singles, Miami earned the win on court two off a retirement from Jurina while Serra Sanchez was up 6-2, 3-1. Prat, ranked No. 113 then dominated Fahim on court one, 6-2, 6-2, to extend the lead.
Segado then battled back nearly losing the second set to come back and take court four, 6-3, 7-5, to notch the Hurricanes’ fifth straight win.
Miami is back on Sunday to face No. 4 Virginia.
