Miami Athletics Hires Covington as Senior Executive Associate Athletic Director

CORAL GABLES, Fla. –University of Miami Athletics announced Thursday that it has hired Taylor Covington as Senior Executive Associate Athletic Director, Business Strategy & Capital Projects.

Covington will oversee UM’s business office in addition to managing the athletic department’s capital projects.

Covington comes to Coral Gables after spending the past two years as Senior Associate Athletic Director and Chief Financial Officer at UNLV, where he served on the athletic department executive teams and managed the budgets of both athletics and the Thomas and Mack Events Center.

Prior to UNLV, Covington worked two years at West Virginia as Assistant Athletic Director for Business Operations, also serving six months as the department’s interim Chief Financial Officer. Covington started in college athletics as project manager and internal consultant for strategy and business operations at his alma mater BYU from 2021-22.

Covington previously spent six years in management consulting, first at PricewaterhouseCoopers and then at Deloitte, where he worked as a finance strategy consultant and in the sports consulting practice.

Covington graduated from BYU with a bachelor’s degree in economics and a master’s degree from the Marriott School of Business.
