Kitchens Donation to Support Miami Baseball Facilities

CORAL GABLES, Fla. — University of Miami Athletics announced Thursday that George and Caralleen Kitchens have made a generous gift to the Hurricanes baseball program, which supports the expansion and enhancement of facilities at Alex Rodriguez Park at Mark Light Field.

The Kitchens’ donation helped fund Miami’s recently completed locker room. It will also fund the construction of a new second-floor team lounge — scheduled to begin following the 2026 season – and fuel investment in advanced data analytics software to strengthen player evaluation and development, scouting preparation, game preparation and long-term competitive success.

George Kitchens developed a lifelong bond with Miami Baseball after growing up attending Hurricanes games with his late father, creating meaningful family ties to the program.

“Growing up attending Miami Baseball games with my late father, I developed a lifelong bond with the program and a deep appreciation for the family traditions it fosters,” he said. “I’ve always been a proud Hurricanes supporter, and my admiration for Coach J.D. Arteaga, his leadership, integrity, and commitment to developing players, truly inspired this gift.

“Guided by faith and the values of service, family, generosity, and leadership, our family sees this philanthropy as an investment in character, community and the continued success of Miami Baseball.”

“We are incredibly grateful to George Kitchens and his family for this tremendous gift and belief in our vision for the program,” head coach J.D. Arteaga said. “George’s lifelong connection to Miami Baseball, like so many in the Hurricanes family, makes this support especially inspiring. His investment in our facilities and player development resources enhances the daily experience of our student-athletes and positions us to continue building and improving. The Kitchens family’s generosity and commitment to our values are already making a meaningful impact.”

No. 17 Miami (10-0) opens a three-game home series Friday night against No. 10 Florida at 7 p.m. The game will be televised on ACC Network.
