Men’s 4x400m Relay and High Jump Records Fall on Day Two of Tiger Paw Invitational
CLEMSON, S.C. – The University of Miami track and field team closed out the Tiger Paw Invitational with two record-breaking performances and several top-five marks Saturday.
In the men’s 4x400m relay, Sean Watkins, George Franks, Ace Malone and Dominique Hall broke the school with a mark of 3:04.11, over a second faster than the previous record set this season.
Kennedy Sauder broke his own school record in the high jump with a clearance of 2.22m, which currently ranks tied for fourth in the NCAA.
The women’s 4x400m relay of Serena Tate, Sanaa Hebron, Gabriella Grissom, Nandy Kihuyu set the program’s second-fastest time at 3:31.65.
In the men’s 3000m, Enrique Borrego improved his personal-best with a time of 8:21.33, the fourth-fastest time in program history as Evan Pena set the fifth-fastest time in school annals at 8:25.13.
In the men’s weight throw, Desmond Coleman improved his fourth-longest throw in program history with a distance of 20.84m. Gabriella Grissom clocked a 2:04.05 in the women’s 800m invitational to place third.
Miami returns to action Feb. 26-28 for the ACC Indoor Championships in Boston.
