Hurricanes Set to Compete at Razorback Invitational

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The University of Miami returns to the track Friday and Saturday as the Hurricanes compete at the highly-competitive Razorback Invitational held at the Randal Tyson Track Center.

Action gets underway Friday at 12:45 p.m. ET with the heptathlon as the women’s weight throw begins at 4:45 p.m. ET. On Saturday, men’s 3000m opens competition at 10:55 a.m. with the women’s triple jump opening field events for Miami at 3 p.m.

Joining the Hurricanes are hosts Arkansas, Florida, Florida State, Georgia, Illinois, Kentucky, LSU, Michigan, Oklahoma State, Oregon, South Carolina, Texas and Texas Tech.

Miami opened the indoor season at the Jimmy Carnes Invitational and set two school records. Natalie Varela broke the 1000m record with a time of 2:44.90, and Ace Malone clocked a 32.70 in the men’s 300m.

A trio of Hurricanes, Gabriella Grissom (women’s 1000m), George Franks (300m) and Sanaa Hebron (300m) moved into second on the school’s all-time list in their respective events. Desmond Coleman registered the fourth-longest throw in program history in the men’s weight throw, while Heath Vernor improved his fifth-best mark. In the men’s 1000m, Prescott Noll recorded the program’s fifth-fastest time.
