Ruwitch Family Endows $1m Scholarship to Miami Athletics

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – University of Miami Athletics announced Thursday that Rob (B.B.A. ’87) and Emily Ruwitch have donated $1m to establish the Ruwitch Family Olympic Sports Endowed Centennial Scholarship.

The endowment will provide annual scholarships for undergraduate Hurricane student-athletes participating in Olympic sports.

As a proud Miami alum and the father of a current UM graduate student, Rob Ruwitch places a high value on a college degree for student-athletes. By making this generous gift, he is pleased to continue the Ruwitch family legacy of philanthropic giving to the University of Miami by supporting student-athletes in Olympic sports and their preparation for life after college.

“Education has always been an important part of our family’s values,” Ruwitch said. “Being able to help student-athletes outside of the big three sports continue to chase their athletic dreams while also growing academically means a lot to us. It’s our way of encouraging dedication, balance and passion.”
