Heredia Colon Earns Miami’s First AVCA National POTW
CORAL GABLES, Fla. – Flormarie Heredia Colon was named the AVCA National Player of the Week, the association announced Tuesday.
The recognition is the first by a Miami Hurricane in program history and also marks Heredia Colon’s sixth weekly honor this season after picking up five ACC Offensive Player of the Week awards.
The Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, native broke the program record once again in Miami’s five-set thriller over Florida State with 42 kills and following it up with 32 in their second matchup with the Seminoles three days later.
She ended the week with 74 kills, averaging 7.40 kills per set, hitting .261 with 152 attempts, 16 digs and 78.0 points.
Heredia Colon continues to lead the NCAA and ACC for total points (623.5), total kills (549), points per set (6.78) and kills per set (5.97), also is second in the ACC in aces per set (17th in NCAA) and total aces (15th in NCAA).
Miami will head to Notre Dame and Louisville on Friday and Saturday, respectively.
